Early life (1997–2017)

JinSoul was born on June 13, 1997, as the youngest of two siblings. She has one older brother.
Although she claims to have had trouble studying, JinSoul at one point ranked 19th in math in her
entire high school.[2] She initially wanted to pursue a university degree in science, but her mother
convinced her to become a humanities major.[citation  needed]
JinSoul was a student at BORN Star Training Center in 2014.[3] She performed a cover of Ailee’s
“U&I”[4] and a medley of g.o.d songs[5] at their 12th annual concert. In September 2014, she passed
her audition for DSP Media and became a trainee there.[6]
JinSoul performed a cover of MAMAMOO’s “Um Oh Ah Yeh” in August 2015 while attending the
Korean Entertainment Arts School.[7]
JinSoul auditioned for many agencies on her quest to become an idol. Despite finding multiple
opportunities through street castings, none followed through.[8] However, sometime in 2016, JinSoul
was contacted over Instagram by Polaris-BlockBerry, and became a trainee at Polaris Entertainment
through Dream Vocal & Dance Academy.[9] She would later transfer to BlockBerry Creative and train
to become a member of LOONA.

2017: “Everyday I Need You”, reveal, solo debut, Love Cherry Motion, Puzzle,
Woomanna, ODD EYE CIRCLE
JinSoul was first teased as a member of LOONA after featuring on ViVi’s “Everyday I Need You”, the
B-side of her solo album.[10] Nicknamed the infamous “one-second-girl” for her brief cameo in the
music video,[11] fans of the group went wild with speculation about JinSoul’s identity, since LOONA
1/3 was the only sub-unit at the time.[12][13]

It was assumed that JinSoul would be the next member of LOONA, revealed in a similar style as ViVi
—first being featured in “Love & Live” and later having her solo release.[14] When the fifth “Who’s
Next Girl?” teaser was released, most fans expected the girl to be JinSoul,[15] but were surprised when
the member was revealed as Kim Lip.
About a month later, on June 8, the sixth “Who’s Next Girl?” teasers were posted: a blue and a black
version, a first for LOONA and representative of JinSoul’s dual representative colors. On June 13,
JinSoul was officially revealed as the seventh member of LOONA. Her single was released on June 26,
2017, with the title track “Singing in the Rain” quickly becoming LOONA’s most viewed music video
at the time.[16]
On July 28, JinSoul had a cameo in the music video for Choerry’s “Love Cherry Motion”. She
additionally released a song with Choerry titled “Puzzle,” which was included on Choerry’s debut
single.
JinSoul was featured in a small role on seasons 1 and 2 of the web drama Woomanna as a university
student.
On August 29, JinSoul was revealed as a member of LOONA’s second sub-unit ODD EYE CIRCLE,
and debuted with "Girl Front" on September 21.

2018: Woomanna, Egoist, Debut in LOONA


From February to March, JinSoul starred alongside fellow ODD EYE CIRCLE members Kim Lip and
Choerry in the third season of Woomanna. She played a university dance major who is cheated on by
her boyfriend of six years.
On March 30, she was featured on Olivia Hye's Egoist, where she in charge of the rap part of the song.
On August 9, JinSoul's teaser was released for LOONA's debut. She was the third member to be teased.
In subsequent days, more teasers of the full group were released, as well as half-group teasers, where
JinSoul was part of the 'Up unit'.
On August 20, JinSoul officially debuted as a member of the completed group LOONA. She and her
members released the mini-album [+ +], along with title track “Hi High”.

2019: XX
On February 4, JinSoul's teaser was released for LOONA's first comeback. She was the fourth member
to be teased. Later, on February 19, LOONA released the studio album "X X", along with title track
"Butterfly".

2020: #, As Time Goes


On January 16, JinSoul's teaser was released for LOONA's second comeback. She was the seventh
member to be teased. Another teaser was released on January 26. Later, on February 5, LOONA
released the mini-album "# ", along with title track "So What". It was rumored that JinSoul was the
writer for the lead single "365", but it was later confirmed that Hwang Yu Bin it's the writer.
On April 15, JinSoul released her first OST, "As Time Goes", for the 2020 South Korean Drama
Welcome.
