Shaurya Chakra

● Naib Subedar Sombir, who died while fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir in

NATIONAL AFFAIRS:
● The Citizenship (Amendment) Act has come into effect from 10th January, 2020
according to a gazette notification by the Union home ministry.
● According to the CAA; members of six minority communities who have come to
India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan till December 31, 2014 will not
be treated as illegal immigrants but given Indian citizenship.
● Census India-2021 will begin on 1st of April this year and will end on 30th of
September. It will be conducted through a mobile phone application.
● Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Cabinet has approved the Ram
Mandir Trust on February 05, 2020.
● It is named- ‗Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra. -15 trustees -K. Parasaran
has been appointed the chairman of the trust.
● The Supreme Court delivered the historic verdict on November 9, 2019. The bench
had declared the ownership of the entire land to Ram Lala and 5 acres of land be
provided to Sunni Waqf Board at another place for construction of a Masjid.
● On January 27, 2020, the Government of India signed the historic agreement with
the nine factions of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB). According

● This is the 11th edition of DefExpo.The 10th edition of the event was held at Chennai

● The main theme of the DefExpo India- 2020 is ‗India: The Emerging Defence
Manufacturing Hub‘
12. The Raisina Dialogue is to be held between January 14, 2020 and January 16, 2020. It is
a multilateral conference that is held in New Delhi annually since 2016. The dialogue is
organised by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Observer Research Foundation.
