Basic Contour and Correction - Written Analysis

I started this project by tracing a rendering of my face. I noticed that my eyes
seemed to be slightly different sizes, my left was a little smaller than my right, and my lips
had a very sharp v cupid’s bow. I also noticed that I had a lot of redness that I needed to
cover up, especially on my cheeks.
I started this makeup application by applying a base of Smashbox Photo Finish
Primer in order to provide a barrier between my skin and the oil-based Ben Nye makeup
which sometimes irritates my skin. Then, I applied Ben Nye foundation in the shade Olive
Fair all over my face, on my eyelids for a base for eyeshadow, and blended into my neck as
well. I had to apply extra coverage on my cheeks to counteract the redness, and in the
future I may consider using a green color corrector depending on the role so that I have a
completely blank base to work with. I then began contouring my face with shadows. I used
Rio Tan as my contour color and began shadowing as indicated on my Face Blank starting
with my cheeks. It was brought to my attention that on my face blank and on my face I
shadowed my cheeks a little too high and it did not truly reflect my bone structure, but,
that is how I prefer to apply contour when I do my everyday makeup. This is something I
will be more conscious of in the future. I also contoured my temples and my nose. I then
went in with the highlighting color (I think it is called Banana) on the bridge of my nose,
under my eyes, and in the center of my forehead. I then filled in my eyebrows and shaped
them with the dark brown eyebrow pencil and also highlighted under my brow bone. Then,
using my contour color, Rio Tan, I shadowed the crease of my eyes. I was very proud of my
blending in this step! Then I applied Black Eyeliner and Mascara, and outlined my lips with
Lip liner and filled them in with the pink color in the quad from the kit. I set my face with
Fair loose powder.
