Hi Mum,

John and I are having a wonderful time here in Ireland. Every day we got up early and go for a long
walk in the country. When we returned we usually had a very big Irish breakfast which
normally consisted of two eggs, three slices of bacon, toast and jam. We usually ordered a cup of
coffee after breakfast: Colombian coffee, of course.

After breakfast we sometimes went swimming in the river. We often meeted children who liked to

swim there. They were very nice. At night we nearly always drank a few pints of Guinness in the
pub�s bar before we went to bed. We always sleeped well after that, I can assure you.

My life has changed a lot in recent years. Everything is turning out differently than I expected. And this
summer was no exception.

In July I went to Valledupar with some Araucanian friends. I stayed at my friend's house and had a great
time. For me, the most exciting part was that my friend's mother made Creole chicken sancocho, one of
my favorite foods. We also walked along the Guatapuri River. We were visiting the monuments of
Diomedez Diaz, Martin Elias and Poncho Zuleta. in the nearby towns of valledupar. I tanned a little on
the river, and otherwise I enjoyed the weather, the food and the beautiful scenery.

The trip cost me approximately 3,500,000 pesos, the place that I liked the most was the monument of
the mermaid.

Cartagena is the prefered beach destination by Colombians for their vacations. Its climate, architectural
heritage, 5-star hotels and a variety of attractions that can be enjoyed from the smallest to the adults,
make this destination a magical place.
You can start touring its streets in the Walled City, considered the heart of the city because it is where
history, art, nightlife, commerce and spectacular sunsets converge to give the most cordial welcome to
its visitors.

Museums, cultural centers, cobbled streets and a traditional craft market located in Las Bóvedas, are
part of the places you cannot miss in Cartagena. Outside the Walled City there is also the Castle of San
Felipe de Barajas, the Monument to the Old Shoes and the Cerro de la Popa, among others.
