110113-1648-01 Stolen Vehicle 9801 Sam Furr Road
Joel Beatty was arrested for taking a Caterpillar backhoe from the parking lot of Northcross Shopping Center
without the owners consent. He was located driving it near Sam Furr Rd and Northcross Drive. He was also
cited for DWLR as his license was suspended for DWI.

110113-1648-01 Stolen Vehicle 9801 Sam Furr Road
The victim reported that his Caterpillar backhoe was missing from the parking lot of the shopping center. A
short time later the reporting officer observed a subject operating a backhoe in the parking lot of Bojangles on
Sam Furr Rd. When the officer made contact with the subject, he stated he was worked for the owner and was
about to return it to the shopping center. The officer followed him back and interviewed the suspect who
admitted to taking the equipment on 01/12/11 because he did not want to ride his bike in the cold. The subject
stated he parked the tractor at Raymer Funeral Home when he wasn’t driving it around. He was using his pocket
knife to start the vehicle.
110113-2005-01 Domestic Disturbance 17030 Hugh Torrance Pkwy
Officers were dispatched to this address to check the welfare of the complainant’s children who reside with his
ex-wife and her new husband. During the process it was discovered that the complainant had violated a
protection order when making contact with his ex-wife before calling HPD. The officer obtained a warrant for
his arrest and contacted the Cumberland County Sheriffs Office to serve it.
