Frank Gehry - Gehry is one of the most famous architects in the world today.
Some of his buildings include the Guggenheim Museum in Spain, the Walt Disney
Hall in Los Angeles, and the Dancing House in Prague.

Quick Facts about Frank Gehry

Frank Gehry’s real name was Frank Owen Goldberg. He changed it due to the
antisemitism he experienced during his childhood.

He has done numerous jobs away from the field of architecture. He once even joined
the United States Army.

He was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and holds citizenship for both Canada and
the United States.

The “Vanity Fair” described him as “the most important architect of our age.”

He loves sailing and has a yacht named “Foggy” and is a member of the California
Yacht Club.

He is a recipient of numerous awards in the field of architecture, among them the

Pritzker Prize for Architecture.

He designed his own residence in 1977 and it is among his most notable designs,
and he still resides there with his family.

Frank Gehry voiced himself in an episode of the Simpsons where he designs a

concert hall for Springfield after gaining inspiration from crumpled paper.

Most of the buildings that Frank Gehry has designed are major tourist attraction
sites.

His father thought that he was a dreamer and that he would not amount to anything.

Le Corbusier (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret) - Corbusier was one of the
pioneers of modern architecture. Some of his buildings include Villa Savoye,
Notre Dame Du Haut, and the United Nations Headquarters in New York, paved
the way for the modern architecture we know today.

Le Corbusier was an influential architect and city planner whose designs combined
functionalism with bold sculptural expressionism. He belonged to the first generation of the so-
called International school of architecture, which promoted such characteristics as clean
geometric forms and open efficient spaces. Le Corbusier was also a recognized writer and
artist.

Antoni Gaudi - Gaudi had a unique style that made him stand out from his
peers. He also took a different approach to designing his buildings, preferring to
work in 3D models as opposed to drawing the plans of the buildings he intended
to build. Some of his work includes the Segrada Familia, Casa Mila, Park Guell,
and Casa Battlo .

During his mature period, masterpieces followed one after another: the Bellesguard Tower, Park
Güell, the restoration of Mallorca Cathedral, the church on the Güell Estate, Casa Batlló, La
Pedrera, and lastly, the Church of the Sagrada Familia.
Surprisingly, the magnificence of Antoni Gaudí’s architecture coincided, as the result of a
personal decision by the architect, with a progressive withdrawal by the man himself. Gaudí,
who in his youth had frequented theatres, concerts and tertulias (social gatherings), went from
being a young dandy with gourmet tastes to neglecting his personal appearance, eating frugally
and distancing himself from social life, while simultaneously devoting himself ever more
fervently to a religious and mystical sentiment.
