Nature of Selling:
Sale is a mechanism in which money exchanges goods. Selling feature therefore has a
significant role to play in marketing.
Sale does not only involve taking money and giving away items. In marketing, it has broad
definition, including activities such as selling products, finding potential consumers,
generating demand, supplying clients with information and services, etc.
The heart of marketing is to be selling. The company can be profitable, selling products at a
fair price and satisfying customers. Sale is the act of passing ownership of the products
through different processes to the buyer. To this the consumer pays goods price. Sale can be
used as a promotional device. This promotes contact, motivates clients to purchase
products or services and turns prospective clients into actual clients.

Nature of Sales Management:


Sales Management refers to the management of overall marketing activities such as
advertising,sales promotion, market research, physical distribution, pricing and product
merchandising.

 Sales Management is “Goal oriented”: As with other management activities, sales


management also has a specific purpose and is intended to achieve specified goals or
goals.

 “Continouos Process”: The sales manager needs to perform sales management


functions regularly, and this process is never-ending.

 “Pervasive”: It is a universally applicable concept which has been adopted and tested
by every kind of business organizations.
