1. Course Description: This cousse focuses on the concept of development, development theories and practices,
in the modem wold Intesplay between theory and practice and the outcome of this relationship are also explored
in the syllabus. The cousse provides an overview of development thinking from ‘classical’ development ideas to
altemative and post development theosies. The cousse then attempts to critically review contemporary debates,
about development, including the link between the current world order and the Development goals of the
developing countsies
2. Scope and Objective of the Course: The objective of the cousse is to make the students avrare of the
debates and issues selating to development and post development. The cousse covers development theory and
ptactice at the global and local levels and examines the practice in contemporayy times

Viva Books. (Reading matesial will be given by the IC)
