I have selected TATA Consultancy Services for my research project as I wanted to study how
it faced the revenue growth which is sliding to a decadal low of up to 2 per cent and
adapted to new challenges standing in front of them due to pandemic. They are doubling
the capacity of internal start up incubation programme to 10-12 projects and counts on the
programme to bring in new products such as drones and services to enhance the growth.
They have created several tools for data masking and made progress in areas such as
cryptography, hash control, and access rights management and launched research and
innovation programs for intelligent and autonomous infrastructure, personalized medicine,
and smart machines. They are also known for global authority on workplace culture as more
than seven out of ten (72 percent) employees said the company is a great place to work and
eight out of ten (80 percent) felt good about work life balance. The company reported a net
profit of Rs 8,049 crore for the fourth quarter as against a profit of Rs 8,126 crore posted in
similar quarter last year. They launched a massive program to ensure business continuity
using secure borderless workspaces model which allows associates to work from home with
support from minimal associates working from offices and managing integrated systems
including online channels for retail companies and running technology for governments and
public services organizations to minimize the impact of Covid - 19. Other initiatives include
the COVID-19 patient tracker, creating a quick and light platform for clinical trials systems to
rapidly collate effectiveness data in collaboration with pharma and medical institutions,
drug molecule discovery using our patented technology and frameworks and exploring
promising ideas for affordable and effective ventilators and kits.
