    Great Wall of China

    The Great Wall of China (Wanli hengchen (Pinyin) or Wan-li Ch’ang-ch’eng (“10,000-Li Long
    Wall”) runs for 8,850 kilometres east to west from Mount Hu near Dandong, south eastern
    Liaoning province, to Jiayu Pass west of Juiquan, northwest Gansu province. The most
    extensive and most preserved version dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
    Most of the wall dates back from the 7th to the 4th century BCE. Walls were connected during
    the 3rd century BCE.
