 Waterproofing
Building protects us from nature forces like rain, heat, cold, wind etc., The concrete
structures on its own is porous and hence not watertight. The unprotected structures
suffer from water induced damage including deterioration and corrosion caused by
chlorination, oxidation and sulphation. They reduce alkalinity in concrete and turns
acidic. The result, reinforcement bar catch rust and eventually expands, to drastically
hamper load bearing capacity of the building structures. The continuous presence of
water leads to constant dampness & humidity and promotes the growth of molds and
fungus on walls and insects presence leading to health problem like asthma, skin
allergies, rashes etc., The consequent spalling of concrete plaster, flaking off expensive
paint on interior/exterior of walls adversely impacts life and value of structure. If the
buildings are not waterproofed during constructions, it may result in costly and hassle
prone repair work in future.
Monarch's technologically advanced MonoProof waterproofing systems cover
every need of Building & Construction industry to protect from water ingress or loss of
water through structures. The complete building structures from basement to roof are
protected from rising dampness, moisture, seepages and leakages from basement to
roof. The technology ranges to acrylic SBR latex, crystalline, epoxy, water repellant
polysiloxanes, polyurethane and bituminous based formulations. The coating fills and
seals concrete pores, micro cracks and capillary tracts in joints, walls and floors
through which water seep through and forms an integral waterproofing compound
without breaking the existing brickbat coba and concrete screed.

Need of waterproofing
1. Waterproofing is having resistance to the passage of water
under hydrostatic head pressure with improving tensile and flexural
properties

2. Terrace roof is the most crucial segment of a building where

starts 99 % of water leakage problems and it is exposed to direct
climatic variations, extremes of rainfall and structural movements

3. The terrace surface tends to accumulate rain water which in

due course persists problems like:
• Seeping inside the slab

system prevents the movement of water through the concrete by
plugging or blocking the natural pores, capillaries and micro cracks,
thereby making concrete its own waterproofing barrier. Monarch's
Krystal – Integral Crystalline Waterproofing systems rely on a
revolutionary crystalline technology that turns porous concrete into an
impermeable barrier.

The Crystalline waterproofing system, a blend of Portland

cement, processed silica sand and special catalytic agents which
converts hydration by-products to solid crystalline formation in the
water transporting capillary tracts and hydration pores thus rendering
the concrete relatively impermeable and increasing durability

Krystal LW – Insoluble Crystalline Liquid Waterproofing Coatings

Krystal LW is a spray applied colloidal liquid that

penetrates the concrete's surface and reacts with the cement
paste matrix to form an insoluble gel sealing pores, capillaries
and cracks creating a below surface barrier against water and
water borne salts ingress. As long as water is present, Krystal LW
remains active and will seal hairline cracks both present and
future.
Krystal LW can be used in above- and below-grade applications. The active chemicals react with
moisture and by product of cement hydrate in the concrete resulting in crystalline formation within the pores
and capillary tracts of concrete thus prevent any further water ingress (even under pressure) and other liquids
from any direction. However, the concrete will still allow the passage of water vapour through the structure
(i.e. the concrete will still be able to "breathe").

 Special Features of MonoProof EW200
In addition to Waterproofing, when coated on the roofing materials
reflects sunlight to a greater extent and prevents the roofing material
from getting heated up, even in peak summer after noon.

Since it works on the principle of continuous rejection of UV and IR Rays,

the roof itself is not getting heated up. So the air below the roof never
gets hot, keeping the rooms cool as comfortable. This prevents id the
buildings for a longer period, extending the life of the buildings.

Solar Heat Incident on a roof is dissipated by means of three Physical Phenomena namely:

• A fraction of the absorbed heat is conducted to the ground and surrounding buildings
• A fraction is dissipated by the convection to air leading to higher air temperature and
• A fraction is radiated to the sky.
The amount of heat radiated can be maximized by Monarch’s MonoProof EW200 coatings that inherently
possess high emittance values.

In general Ambient Temperature is between 37°C - 45 °C The saturation roof temperature

55°C - 75 °C in peak summer, and this can be substantially reduced by coating the roof
MonoProof EW200. Below mentioned is an example of reduction in surface temperature after
application of MonoProof EW200.

 Methodology - Surface Preparation
Safety Tips & Surface Preparation
1. During surface preparation connectivity precaution to taken in
the below areas:
• Water tank, dish antenna, split AC unit bases
• Exposed like concealed electrical pipe on the terrace has to
be sealed properly
• Electric wires or cables ducts
• Fitting of drain outlets
• Pipes running over the roof or parapet wall

2. As per CSP 3 - light shot blasting of a concrete surface with steel shot at high velocity to remove
contamination and laitance to reveal sound concrete profile for improved bonding

3. All loose and de-bonded concrete should be removed and repair and level the surface

4. Surface should be clean from algae , dirt, mildew by washing affected area with a solution of 30%
household bleach and 70% water, surface to prepare dry and clean

5. The concrete sub-base should be a minimum of 20N/mm²

1.BASE COAT:
Apply of Krystal LW - Crystalline Liquid Waterproofing Coatings
using brush / roller on the surface & Curing time must be 15 days

2. 2nd COAT:
After curing period apply of 1st coat MonoProof EW200 - waterproofing
& heat reflection system based on Micro-fibers reinforced Acrylic
Water Proofing to 200% elongation on top of Krystal LW

3. 3rd COAT:
Placing Monowrap GF 40 - Glass Fiber 40 GSM Surface Mat
after 2nd coat of MonoProof EW200

GUARANTEE PERIOD
We confirm 15 years Performance Guarantee for the
MonoProof Waterproofing materials , it can with stand
up to 15 years from the date of application. Monarch
will provide replacement material at free of cost ,as
may be necessary to set right the coating failure for
the defected area only subject to pre-inspection by
our company representative.

However Monarch shall not be responsible for any

special, incidental, consequential (including lost
profits) or punitive damages of any kind. The
guarantee/warrantee does not cover for any defect
caused by misuse or abuse of the product, damage
caused by natural disasters, damage caused by
unauthorized modification, defects caused by
improper storage of the product or any such act of
negligence.
