NOVENA PRAYERS FOR THE SOUL OF

JUAN R DULAY, JR.

LDR: Lord, help us to see death for what it really is / the end of poverty and the beginning of riches / the
end of frustration and the beginning of tranquility / the end of pain and the beginning of joy / the end of
weakness and the beginning of strength.
ALL: O Lord Jesus, whose unforgettable life was lived in the faith / that the love which surrounds us / is
as real and dependable as that of the Father. Let that same sense of trust and hope / steady us at this time.
Let not grief overwhelm us / or the sense of loss embitter us. But out of our sadness / let there arise a new
joy for so much is given to us.

Help us to see / that what we love becomes a part of us / interfused with our lives / blended with mind
and memory / hallowed forever within our soul. Let not grief take away our hope / or bereavement blind
us / to what always remains good / and lovely and indestructible.

LDR: O gracious spirit of peace / come alive within our experiences and hurts, / within our sorrow and
isolation / within the sadness of today and the loneliness of tomorrow. Come alive as the peace and trust /
which nothing in life or death can kill. Cast out our fears / and let not our hearts be troubled / knowing
that this world is our Father’s house.

These our prayers we offer for Juan Dulay, Jr, through Christ our Lord / Amen.

WE NEVER LOSE THOSE WE GIVE TO GOD

LDR: We give Juan Dulay, Jr whom you have given to us / back to you, O God. As you did not lose
him in giving / so we do not lose him by his return. Not as the world gives / do You give, O Lord. For
what you give / you do not take away / for what is yours is ours also. Life is eternal. Love is immortal /
and death is only a horizon / and a horizon / is nothing but the limit of our sight.
ALL: Lift us up / O Son of God / that we may see further. Cleanse our eyes that we may see life clearly.
Draw us close to you / so that we maybe nearer to our loved ones / who are with you / and prepare us also
for that happy place / so that where You are / we may be also, forevermore.

LDR: God, our Father, open our lips and inflame our hearts with the Spirit of Your love. Enlighten our
minds / that we may seriously meditate on your sufferings and death / and the pains endured by your most
glorious Son / and deign to hear and receive us / before Your great majesty. You who live and reign with
your Son, our Lord, and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever /Amen.
ALL: Merciful Jesus, look down with eyes of pity on your faithful son, Juan Dulay, Jr, / for whom you
have suffered and died on the Cross. Amen

LDR: My Jesus, through Your bloody sweat in the the Garden of Gethsemane
ALL: Have mercy on the soul of Juan Dulay, Jr

LDR: My Jesus, through the blows You received on Your Sacred Face,
ALL: Have mercy on the soul of Juan Dulay, Jr

LDR: My Jesus, through the cruel scourging You endured,

LDR: My Jesus, through Your face covered with blood which You allowed to be imprinted on the veil of
Veronica

LDR: My Jesus, through the bloody garments, which were cruelly removed from your wounded body,
ALL: Have mercy on the souls of Juan Dulay, Jr

LDR: My Jesus, through Your Holy Body nailed on the cross,

ALL: Have mercy on the soul of Juan Dulay, Jr

LDR: My Jesus, through Your hands and feet pierced with the cruel nails,
ALL: Have mercy on the soul of Juan Dulay, Jr

LDR: My Jesus, through Your sacred side pierced with a lance and from which flowed blood and water,
ALL: Have mercy on the soul of Juan Dulay, Jr

LDR: Let us pray. (Pause)

ALL: Father, we thank you for all the good things / which You gave to Juan Dulay, Jr, / Your son in this
mortal life. They were indeed signs of Your goodness and of the communion of saints in Christ. Lord, in
Your great pity / accept our prayers / that the gates of paradise may be opened to him. In our turn may we
too be comforted by the words of faith / until we hasten to meet Christ / when we all be forever with the
Lord and Your son Juan Dulay, Jr.

Lord, our God / Your ways are without end. Your mercies, too many to count, cause us never to forget /
that all our life is short and uncertain. Let Your Holy Spirit lead us through this present world / in holiness
and justice / all the days of our life. And after we have served on earth / in communion with Your
Church / and in perfect charity with all men and women, may we joyfully come to Your Kingdom /
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

LDR: Eternal rest grant unto Juan Dulay, Jr, O Lord.

ALL: And let perpetual light shine upon him.

LDR: May he rest in peace.
