We are the future. We make change.
The Migration and Transnationalism: An open letter to the Filipino Youth by Angela Teresa G. Sebastian gave an eye-opener
to the issues, problems, and even our triumphs happening in our country and addresses the young ones to be the next change agents in
shaping the nation’s progress. That’s why we come up with our symbolic representation entitled, “WE ARE THE FUTURE. WE
MAKE CHANGE.” From those words, we, the youth, are the voice and hope of the oppressed Filipino people against people who are
blinded and pretending to be deaf behind the truth. Our journey starts now; we make change by knowing and exercising our rights,
right to vote, right to speak and stand up, right to be informed, and right to make action for the betterment of our country. We are born
in the world to become the leaders as we are molded by our parents, professors, and to those people who look us down. We will not
stop until the day our voices are heard, because the law is not only for those who are above but for every Filipino who stands with the
right and does not concealed truth. Jose Rizal, our National Hero, and our main proponent who fought for freedom in a silent but a
powerful way through pen and paper to express novels, essays and articles to show love and patriotism to Philippines. Behind him is
our National Bird, Philippine eagle, which Rizal’s wing to soar high to present national pride by not using violence, instead, strength,
fierce, loyalty and love for freedom and independence to protect, to serve and to move forward the nation. The color of Rizal’s face
and the eagle is our National Flag as a transformation to foster and to raise awareness to the community for the success of each and
everyone because we are part of this nation, we are in this together to dedicate ourselves to the equality, peace, truth, justice and
bravery of all and as the stars symbolizes that it is the time for us to shine under different circumstances. Again, we are the youth;
education, as our tool to achieve the same purpose and the same goal to make Philippines a safer and better place to live. Technology
and Media, as our medium of communication and dissemination of information will be carefully utilized using appropriate language
and choice of words with credible and reliable sources that is worth studying and sharing just like what Rizal did for our country.
Staying or leaving the country will never be the hindrance to serve the Philippines with our gift of knowledge, talents and skills to
promulgate the values, beliefs and philosophies that are instilled with while holding and pursuing our own dreams in life. We will
fight with integrity and courage because from the beginning of this paper, WE ARE THE FUTURE. WE MAKE CHANGE.
