TRIP MATRIX TYPE

TZJZ-1 AND NON-ELECTRIC
QUANTITY PROTECTION

Acheng Relay Co., Ltd (ARC)

1 GENERAL

1.1 Performance
The contact signals from the output auxiliary relays of various protection device drive the
general output relays via the matrix in order to trip and send a signal. The device has 42 input
channels. 3 pairs of signal contacts (holing) may be input into each channel. According to actual
requirement, each input channel, at most, can drives 16 general output trip relays by means of
jumper setting. Each general output trip relay has 2 pairs of trip contacts, i.e., one is of current
holding and the other is of non-holding. The user can select them according to their accrual
requirement.
1.2 Product Service Circumstance
Service temperature:0℃~+40℃;-20℃~+60℃(reinforced type).
Relative humidity: not more than 95% without condensation.
Atmospheric pressure: 80kPa~110kPa。

2 Constitution and Operation Principle

2.1 Constitution and Hardware Description

The device consists of a matrix board, signal modules, trip modules, etc. the logic relation is
shown in Fig.1.
2.1.1 Signal Module
In the panel, there are 7 signal modules, one of which has 6 input channels. Each channel can
provide 3 pairs of contacts(able to holding).
2.1.2 Matrix Board and Signal Indicator Board
This board includes 42(input channels) x 16(general output relays) matrix trip mode setting.
Otherwise, the signal indicator board includes 42 yellow indicators corresponding to these 42 input
channels. When there is fault indication, the yellow indicators are held.
2.1.3 Trip Module
In the panel, there are 2 trip modules, one of which consists of 8 trip relays. Each output relay
provides 2 pairs of trip contacts, i.e., one is of holding and the other is of instantaneous operation.
2.2 Operation Principle
The device is used to complete expansion of various protection output contacts in order to send
signals and to trip. The operation principle diagram is shown in Fig.1. When DC220V (or DC110V)
signals are input into input channel IN1, corresponding relay K1 in the signal board picks up and
outputs signals of 3 pairs of contacts (able to hold). Input channel IN1, via a jumper, is used to
select trip output relays and then, to start the corresponding output relay to output 1 pair of holding
contacts and 1 pair of instantaneous operation contacts for relative operation. The operation
principle of the other input channels is the same as input channel IN1.

3 STRUCTURE, INSTALLATION AND TEST
3.1 Structure
The device adopts a case type XC-4U/WT-18 with whole front board and rear wiring. The rear
terminal diagram is shown in Fig. 2 and the cutout diagram is shown in Fig. 3. The rear terminal
description of the signal board is shown in Table 1 and the rear terminal description of the trip board
is shown in Table2.

3.2 Device Debugging

3.2.1 Check Before Device Electrification
Before the device is electrified, it shall be checked whether or not there is any damage of the
appearance, the terminal connection is reliable, internal connection is correct, there is short-circuit
and open circuit and the diodes are assembled correctly.
3.2.2 Insulation Check
Putting into all of terminals and checking with a 500V mega-meter, the insulation resistance shall
not be more than 100 MΩ .
3.2.3 Device Check
The jumpers of IN1 on the module XH1 (SW1 on the matrix board) are all broken. +DC220V
(DC110V) is applied to terminal 19 of it and - DC220V (DC110V) is applied to terminal 43 of it.
Indicator 1 on the front board lights and the measured pickup contacts shall close reliably. DC220V
(DC110V) is applied to terminal 44. This indicator and pickup contacts are all held. Pressing the
reset button on the front board, the indicator is turned off and the measured pickup contacts shall are
broken. The pickup contact terminal numbers are shown in Table 1. The corresponding trip contacts
of trip output relay TZ1 and TZ2 shall not close. For other 41 input channels, the measuring method
is the same as that of IN1.
When the trip channels of SW1 in the matrix board corresponding to IN1 on module XH1 are
separately short-circuited, the trip contacts relating to the channel close. The sequence of the trip
channels is arranged from the external part to the internal part as TRIP1-TRIP16. The operation
contact terminal numbers are shown in Table 2. For other 41 input channels, i.e.,IN2, IN3, …, IN41,
IN42, the measuring method is the same as that of IN1.
