The applicable theory is Orem’s self-care theory. Because Mr.

X can recover quickly and more

holistically if they are allowed to meet their own needs so he will be able to gain or maintain his
independence. It is good that Mr. X receive regular visits from people he used to be with. On that note
he feels that he still has a part on what he uses to do.

In Nursing- you are the one helping the patient what is deficit to them. On this case which is the staff
nurse, that needs to establish what Mr. X needs are. On that note as stated on the case scenario, the
nurse is making regular visits assessing his conditions, checking his intravenous line and giving
medication and the like.

Person- is the one in need of help, which in this case is Mr. X to be assisted with what he is lacking. So in
order for him to be provided with what is lacking to, he must know within himself what he is deficit of.
He stated that he is not use to in staying put and not working and leaning himself with the help of
others.

Health- is the perspective where we can view how well the caring of deficit are address to the patient
which is Mr. X , whether or not it functioned as a whole. In Mr. x’s condition where he has injuries, he
cannot withstand without the assistance of his wife and the nurse.

Environment- when it comes to the environment, it is where we assist the patient on what might be
lacking in his surroundings be it biologically or chemical features. Meaning that providing care to the
patient in considering the environment where Mr. X is. Considering the visits and of course the factors
on what they portray towards the patient might affect Mr. X recovery. Those people and what Mr. X is
doing must be of great help for his recovery, as stated that letting him read the Bible will help ease his
spiritual need.
