Questions:
1. What sector/business industry were present at the trade fair?
In the Bicol Business Month (BBM) held in SM Naga City, there were a lot of
different sectors or business industry present in the trade fair which includes the
Following:
 Handicraft industry
 Food industry
 Manufacturing
 Furniture industry
 Agriculture and Fishery Industry
 Telecommunication
 Food and Beverage Industry
 Health Care
not only of Metro Naga, but the entire Bicol Region. Wherein it showcase the best of
Bicol products and services, and sharing information on how to do business in Naga and
Bicol, and the demands that may be found attractive and viable to investors.

2. How did the exhibitor/s engage trade fair attendees?


The exhibitors engages the attendees of the trade fair through promoting the
features and benefits of the product and services that they offer. They also feature the
uniqueness and creativity in each of the products. There were also some exhibitors that
offers freebies and promos at their booth or exhibit to grab the attention of the
attendees.

3. Were the right products on display? Why?

Yes, it is because that all products and services that are displayed in every stall or
booth in the exhibit should suit and match the products they are promoting. In addition,
it is also to attract the attention and interest of your potential customer that they will
patronize the products and services being offered by the business.

4. Was needed information about the product and/or service easily obtained or
answered through literature or exhibit staff? Was someone available to answer any
questions?

Yes, because almost all of the necessary information needed about the product
and services were easily obtained. They were able to provide certain information about their
business including the background of the business, products and services it offers and even the
process of manufacturing or producing their final product. The exhibit staff available in each of
the business in the exhibit were knowledgeable and were able to present some literature of the
products and services that they offer to their potential customers.
5. How was the interaction between the in-booth staff and the trade fair attendees? Do
you think the staff showcased enough effort to get potential clients and/or
customers?

Based from my observations, there is a positive interaction between the in-


booth staff and the trade fair attendees. The in-booth staff of each of the business in the
exhibit were able to promote the products that they offer. They were able to introduce
their products confidently with a smile and joyful expressions that captured many
customers during that event. Aside from showcasing the feature, materials and the
advantages of their products and services, they were also able to show the proper
business etiquette and politeness to customers. However, because of the large number
of attendees there were some in-booth staff that were not able to accommodate some
of their attendees.

6. Which among the business participants do you think is usually full with spectators and
which is not? Why?

Based from my observations, those booth who introduce new and unique
products and those who used creative promotional strategies gained more attention to
the attendees or potential customers. It is because they promote products which are
new to the society and people that would probably help them in their daily life.
However, those stalls who promotes common products and who used minimal
promotional strategies gained a lesser attention, since that their products and strategies
used where already familiar to the attendees.

7. Cite different promotional strategies that you have observed during the activity.
Which among those strategies can you apply in your own business venture?

Based from what I’ve observed, the promotional strategies used during the
activity includes the word-of-mouth strategy, product giveaways and freebies, and the
used of online promotions. For me, I think all of those strategies mentioned is essential
in applying to my own business venture. It could help me promote and increase the
demands of the potential customers of the business venture thus, it can develop a
better performance and sales of the business.

8. What do you think will be the effect of this kind of activities to the business
establishment/participants? Cite at least two positive and two negative effect.

In this kind of activity you need to consider both the positive and negative effects of it.
Positive:
 Since that this activity is open to a large and sometimes diverse range of
audiences. It provides you with a platform to promote your product or service to a
broader group that may have little or no knowledge of your products and
services.
 Being involved in a trade show or exhibit can provide you with opportunities to
branch out to business-to-business trading and create a customer database from
the visitors to your display booth.
Negative
 There will probably be quite a bit of competition with other business
establishment present in the event.
 Trade shows require at least a day and probably more of your time.

9. If you are to join in a business trade fair, how will you make sure that participating in
such event will be of great benefit to your business?

Events like trade fair and exhibit are one of your pathways to introduce your products
and services to the public or to your potential customers. It is a very powerful marketing
medium. For me, to make sure that my business will benefit from participating an event,
I will make sure to have an overall overview of the market and industry by simply
knowing the target market and opportunities that are available. I would also gather
information about the trend and innovations happening in the society and as well as
sparing time for the business and giving importance to the potential customers that they
will be surely satisfied of the products and services you offer.

10. Write a short reflection about the activity and attach documentation.

Reflection on the Bicol Month Celebration held in SM Naga City

Bicol business week (BBW) is an annual business activity of the Metro Naga
Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the city government of Naga. In this event it
showcase and promote the best of Bicol trade and commerce and also to pave way for
new opportunities through business matching with exhibitors from within and outside
the Bicol region.

Last July 6, 2017, I was given the chance to visit and experience the Bicol
business week event held in SM Naga City. Based from what I’ve observed in the exhibit,
there are a lot of talented and creative entrepreneurs here in Naga City. Most of the
products being offered in the event has a distinct characteristics from one another. I
also saw on how the entrepreneur offers their products to the clients. They offer them
free sample, freebies and other bonuses that will capture most the interest of the client.
I also observed on how the entrepreneurs entertain and encourage the customers. All of
them have a different ways on entertaining their customers, some used the products
that they offer, and there are also some who use the word-of-mouth strategy and
others who uses joyful expressions not just to entertain and encourage the client but
also to spread happiness to other people.

To sum up, I learned that as early as now we should learn the strategies and
practices being implemented by various business establishment. It is essential that we
know the benefits and advantages of these activities if we ever decide to pursue our
own business in the future.
