We Filipinos are inherently good and brave. However, Spaniards test our goodness and bravery
which result to a revolution. One of the controversial event happen before is Cavite Mutiny. This event
leads to our desire to break free from the grasp of the abusive Spanish colonizers and a revolution broke
out. Cavite is a place here in Philippines and Mutiny is when you feel that justice does not serve right
which result to a rebellion or a revolt. As I read the Cavite Mutiny there are different accounts which
proposed different perspective on how this remarkable event happened. In order for us to judge fairly we
must look at the wider picture or knowing the different sides of the story so that we can come up to a
better understanding.

First, according to the Spaniards accounts which was documented by a Spaniard historian Jose
Montero y Vidal and Gov. Gen. Rafael Izquierdo y Gutierrez a Spanish military officer, who interpreted
that the cause of this Cavite Mutiny was stimulated from the intentions of our ancestors to remove the
Spaniards authorities in our country. In my perspective, I think they are just making conspiracy theory
about our ancestors. In the first place who are they? They have their own country which is Spain and why
they are acting that they own our land. Yes, they have contributed a lot in our country but making us
slaves in their own cause is a big no. If this accounts of Montero y Vidal and Gov. Gen. Rafael Izquierdo y
Gutierrez are true and I think the actions of our ancestors are right. Our ancestors will not take an actions
if the Spaniards do good to our countrymen.

Second, according to the account of Trinidad Pardo de Tavera a Filipino historian who interpreted
that it is just a simple mutiny because our ancestors do not have intentions of removing the colonizers to
our country but simply they want to have a better education system and materials for the future of our
country. However, the Spaniards authorities alleged our ancestors without any evidence of rebellion
against the government. I could not agree more about the mindset of the colonizers. Making a decision
without any attempt of investigations is an evidence of showing the power and control to our country.
Due to the fact that Spaniards hold us from our neck that is why our ancestors cannot prove their
sentiments because no one will listen to them. Lastly, the tragic yet meaningful part of our history which
was the execution of Father Mariano Gomes, Father Jose Burgos and Father Jacinto Zamora also known
as GOMBURZA. These Fathers are accused of mutiny by Gov. Gen. Rafael Izquierdo y Gutierrez that they
are the leaders and they planned to remove the Spaniards sovereignty in our country. Spaniards do not
want someone to block in their way that is why they give an execution even if it is their people or a Filipino.
This tragic event leads to an unwavering sense of nationalism to every single Filipinos that day and the
birth of our propaganda against the Spaniards. I believe that it is the start of our road to independence
and the start of new beginning.

Thus, there may be different versions of the events and claims but one thing is certain, Cavite
Mutiny paved its way to independence. Indeed, claiming for freedom takes truly a lot of efforts, bravery
and unity among the Filipinos and those Filipinos at heart to make it come true and I applaud our ancestors
for giving their lives and strengthen just to make our land free from colonizers. This remarkable event is
truly a history that we can never forget.
