Sub: Regarding the disturbance caused by loudspeakers and vehicles in Borivali (west)

Dear Sir,

This is to bring to your notice that there has been a dramatic increase in the noise pollution
in our area. This is causing irritation, lack of sleep and loss of peace thus causing damage to
the health of citizens in our area. There is a seldom a day when we don’t live in a noisy
atmosphere. The cacophony of the loudspeakers during religious functions and political
rallies or even during parties and wedding ceremonies adds up to the noisy decibels.

It is high time that the authorities should wake up against the dangers of noise pollution
and have strict noise control laws. Residential areas & areas where educational institutions
and hospitals are based should be marked as noise-free zones. Construction work should be
restricted during specific times and factories to be shifted at far-away places. Above all, we
citizens should be made aware about noise hazards because without public cooperation, no
law can be abided.

I earnestly hope that my voice will reach them through your esteemed newspaper and
would request the authorities to take swift action against noise pollution.

Yours faithfully,

Ria Ghude
