The people of this village are dleposing thelr garbage along the roadside, The Village Which Ib developing had sean an increase In shape and factories located in the community, Thave business places located | the community, Thase business places also contribute to land pollution In Parfaite Harmonie, land Pollution affects many residents, this is shown in the bar, raph, Figure. Effects of land pollution 70% ro HEALTHISSUES = BEATHING FLOODING OTHER DISEASES GROUNDS FOR RODENTS The bar graph shows the effects caused by land pollution. Firstly the most common effect stated by 65% of the respondent is “Health issue”. This is because the garbage provides or attract disease causes such as flush can cause persons to become ill (diarrhea ) and the garbage dumped also create a bad smell hence cause breathing problems . Secondly as stated before that garbage dumped can create breeding ground for rodents and diseases carriers. Persons indicated that they have seen an increase in houseflies and rats. 15% also stated that land pollution contribute to flooding, Often garbage dumped makes their way to drains and clogged them. This increase the chance of flooding due to water not flowing freely. Others effects such 45 disputes among neighbors in relation to garbage disposal A Activities that contributed to land pollution is shown in the pie chart below. Figure 1: Causes of Land Pollution in Parfaite Harmonie LAND POLLUTION a Firstly 65% of the respondents stated that due to no frequent garbage collection system has influence business to dispose their garbage on the roadside. This is because these business garbage bin sometime overflow due to no frequent garbage collection. Secondly 25% of the respondent stated that garbage disposal system is too expensive. Persons are unable to afford these disposal system and hence tend to dump their garbage elsewhere while 15% of the respondent stated that animals are also a cause of land pollution. Animals scatter their garbage such as plastic and other materials as a result pollute the land Finally 5% of the respondent stated other reasons such as oil spill from vehicle are reasons for land pollution. In the graph below shows how many residents pollution affects in the community of Parfaite Harmonie 4 LAND POLLUTION mwAFFECTED wNOT AFFECTED 65% of the respondents stated that they are affected by land pollution while the other 35% stated they were not affected by land pollution since they know how to contain the pollution in that part of the area. | Conclusion After doing this SBA, it was found that land pollution was one of the biggest challenges in Parfaite Harmonie. In order to solve the issue of land pollution in Parfaite Harmonie frequent garbage collection must be put in place, the residents must keep their animals locked up so that there will be less scattering of garbage: ‘An to conclude this issue can be solved by reducing the payments for garbage bins, in order for less dumping of garbage on the roadside and lower the risk of having rodents and illness present in the community.
