Short-term Visitors Information Sheet

When coming to and in Singapore


Information as at 13 July 2020

Pre-Departure from Home Country

• All short-term visitors must be tested negative for Covid-19 by the PCR test1 within 48 hours
prior to departure.

• Patient MUST NOT have suspicion of pneumonia on chest x-ray performed within 48 hours prior
to departure.

Arrival in Singapore

Patient
• Patient WILL be admitted and isolated at the receiving hospital via an ambulance.

• Two (02) PCR swab tests will be conducted with 24 hours apart. If both tests are negative,
patient will be discharged to the Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) facility.

• Upon discharge from hospital, patient will NEED to complete the remaining Stay-Home-Notice
period for a total of 14 days. Please note that the arrival date in Singapore is counted as Day 0.

• The swab test and hospital stay charges will be at patient’s own cost.

Accompanying Person
• Accompanying person will be assigned and conveyed to a Stay-Home-Notice (SHN) facility upon
arrival in Singapore.

• Accompanying person cannot follow the patient for his/her medical appointment. Approval will
be granted on a case-by-case basis.

• If accompanying person would like to follow the patient for medical appointments, he/she will
need to be tested for COVID-19 by PCR twice, 24 hours apart, before being allowed entry into
any Parkway Facility.

Stay-Home-Notice Facility and Swab Test Cost

• All visitors (patient and accompanying person) MUST undergo the Covid-19 swab test before the
end of SHN period (at visitor’s own cost).

• Each visitor under SHN will receive an SMS notification informing him/her of the scheduled
appointment slot and venue.

• All visitors will have to travel via a pre-booked taxi to the community testing facility for the
Covid-19 swab test and return back to the SHN facility IMMEDIATELY after the test. Public
transport should be avoided.

Going for Medical Appointments

• During the isolation in the hospital, patient CAN receive the required specialist medical care.

• Approval MUST be sought from the front office of the SHN facility, before patient can leave the
premise for medical appointments.

• Parkway Cancer Centre will arrange two-way transportation for the patient’s medical
appointments (at patient’s own cost).

• Please note that if visitors leave the SHN facility without approval, there will be penalties such
as a fine and/or a jail term.

• Mask MUST be donned at all times, when leaving the SHN facility.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. During my admission in the hospital, can my accompanying person visit me?
A: No, your accompanying person is not allowed to visit you during your admission in the
hospital while waiting for your swab test results. You will be transported to the SHN facility
where your accompanying person is at after obtaining two (02) negative swab tests result.

Q2. When I am in the hospital for my medical appointment, can I walk around? Eg, to the
pharmacy or cafeteria?
A: It is recommended that movements should be minimised and limited to areas which your
medical appointment entails. Please discuss with the clinic staff if you would like to go
somewhere else.

Q3. Why are the nurses attending to me, in full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) even
though I have no Covid-19 symptoms?
A: Donning the PPE is to minimise the risk to you and our healthcare workers. This is an extra
precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our patients and colleagues.

Q4. If my treatment requires me to stay beyond the 14-day SHN period, what should I do?
A: You may check with the designated facility if they are able to accommodate short-term
visitors, after your SHN period. Alternatively, you may want to check other hotels/service
apartments. The cost of accommodation after the SHN period will be borne by you.

Q5. After the 14-day SHN, can I visit my relatives and friends in Singapore?
A: Yes, you are able to do so. Please take note of the measures implemented for Phase 2
measures in Singapore.²

Q6. I have completed my treatment, can I return to my home country before the end of my
SHN?
A: No, you will have to fulfil the full 14-day SHN before you can return home.

Q7. I would need to obtain a negative Covid-19 test result before returning to home country.
What should I do?
A. Under MOH guidelines, each visitor in Singapore will need to undergo one Covid-19 swab
test before the end of the SHN period.

Should you require Covid-19 swab test before leaving Singapore, please note that doctors
cannot order the test for asymptomatic patients

What must be done during the Stay Home Notice Period

14-day SHN will commence immediately after you arrive in Singapore.


The day you arrive is considered Day 0.

1. Remain in your place of residence at all times during the 14-day period
Do not leave your residence, even if it is to purchase food and essentials. If necessary, you
may opt for home delivery services or enlist the assistance of others for your daily
necessities.

2. Minimise contact with others, and avoid having visitors to your residence
You should maintain a record of persons you come into close contact with during this period.

3. CHECK FOR SYMPTOMS

• Monitor your health closely


i.e. Twice daily for fever (≥ 37.5°C) and respiratory symptoms such as cough and
breathlessness.

4. OBSERVE GOOD PERSONAL HYGIENE

• Maintain good personal hygiene


Wash your hands regularly with soap and water. Flush the toilet after use, and wash your
hands before and after handling food or eating, and after going to the toilet.

• Do not touch your face.

• Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing.

• Maintain good indoor ventilation.

• Carry out frequent cleaning of your place of residence.

• Do not share food, crockery, utensils and other personal hygiene items.
