The recent offshore earthquake in Guiuan, Eastern Samar (Ms. 7.7) caused alarm to the country and a Tsunami Alert level was issued as a result. Earthquake in Hinunangan, Southern Leyte on September 17, 2012 was also reported. These series of earthquakes accentuate the need to intensify our earthquake preparedness. in 1e with this, earthquake drills and evacuation plans for the inhabitants near critical infrastructures (e.g. dams, dikes, bridges, etc.) are vital. 2. Pursuant to RA 10121, preparedness and mitigation are key strategies in reducing disaster risks, thus the need for the conduct of earthquake drills. 3.
