Global governance is defined as the totality of law, policies and regulations that

represent trans-border relations between states, cultures, citizens, organizations and

markets. Its goal is to bring together collective action that would benefit the whole world

by the means of providing peace and security, functioning markets and integrated

standards for trade and industry. The future of global governance relies on its four

actors: the nation-states, international organizations, civil society and markets. The

Philippines, as a nation-state, has the potential to contribute to the improvement of the

global governance, particularly its government. In the current situation, where the whole

world is facing a pandemic, the Philippine government could actively participate in

global governance by properly addressing health issues. By cooperating with other

national governments, COVID-19 outbreak could be effectively mitigated, it could also

be by the means of sharing ideas and notions regarding this matter. Another way is

environment-related, since Philippines also suffers from environmental issues such as

pollution, illegal mining and logging, global warming, climate change etc., the

government could take part by making laws that requires business actors not to use

regulatory diversity to lessen both environmental and social responsibility. Thus,

Philippine government, as an actor of global governance could participate in global

governance by incorporating its present challenges and solving these with the level of

whole world could benefit.
