CE-1 A2

Give (3) three reasons why the documentary, Raiders of the Sulu Sea, is important to the grand narrative
of Philippine history.

1. Throughout the hundreds of years that Filipinos were colonized and experiencing arm struggles
against the Spanish, American and Japanese colonial governments, the Filipino’s struggle for
freedom was shown in the documentary wherein the Filipinos must never forget.

2. The documentary also encourages and brings to popular consciousness the aftermath of the
series of scattered campaigns involving the troops of the American and Muslim bands on
Mindanao, also known as the “Moro Wars”.

3. It provides the audience the dilemma of the captives and slaves under study who partially
contributed to the birth of a creole language .
