For this module, since day one until now, I have learned several terms and concepts regarding

hydrology. Not only its definition and the basic parameters included on its process called the hydrologic
cycle but also other elements that affects it and what is its effects on earth. There are various concepts
that were tackled in which are connected to hydrology and it includes meteorology, albedo effect,
weather and climate, and atmosphere. By definition, meteorology pertains to the study of atmosphere
that focuses on the conditions of both weather and climate. Wherein atmosphere in turn is the so-called
gaseous envelope or the set of layers of gases that surround the planet earth. Atmosphere also links the
ocean and continent as it provides a big role in the process of water circulation on the earth. In relation
to this concept, climate and weather are both characteristics of atmosphere. In which when people are
talking about the short-time condition of the atmosphere in a specific place, it is climate. It can vary within
any time measure, may it be within seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months. On the other hand,
weather is the long-term average behavior of weather of a specific area. Under this concept, I learned
that there are four types of climates here in the Philippines, Type I, II, III, and IV. These types of climates
differ in terms of the dry and wet seasons. These are just some of the learnings that were stuck in my
mind. But there are also some topics that I really had fun learning, or somewhat are the highlights of this
module, at least for me. First is the stream order, I was amazed how easy it was, learning and performing
this numbering system since at first, I really had no idea how these shapes were formed and their meaning.
Second is the utilization of the HEC-HMS software, especially that it is where our project is being done for
this module. I am having fun using and exploring every tool it contains, even though there are still a lot
that I do not know and understand, I am still amazed how me and my groupmates are managing to
evaluate the watershed model that we made. Last but not the least, is the video that were presented to
us, which is entitled “Six degrees could change the world” (if I am not mistaken). Even though it was not
part of the powerpoint presentation shown to us, it is really one of the highlights of this module since this
documentary opened my eyes and made me deeply realize how earth could be extremely affected and
be an uninhabitable planet in the near future if no solutions will be made, immediately. Every degree
higher, the planet worsens, even it is only one-degree warmer, major changes and negative impacts are
brought by it around the world. It is a necessity that more people are informed with this issue so that we
will be able to do our part to save the planet earth.
