Proposed Research Topic: BE’s awareness and attitude towards climate

change becoming serious and causing heavy damage to environment .
1. Introduction
1.1 Background of the research
Climate change is a change in the pattern of weather, and related changes in
oceans, land surfaces and ice sheets, occurring over time scales of decades or
longer. Climate change may be due to natural processes, such as changes in the
Sun’s radiation, volcanoes or internal variability in the climate system, or due to
human influences such as changes in the composition of the atmosphere or land
use. Human activities influence climate by changing concentrations of CO2 and
other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, altering the concentrations of aerosols
and altering the reflectivity of Earth’s surface by changing land cover.
By observation, raising temperatures or melting snow in Antarctic easily
realized as phenomenons of climate change. Climate change has big impact on
our environment by changes to resources on the earth. Drought and flood are
likely to occur abnormally.
Vietnam is one of the countries most affected by climate change. Snow have
appeared in one cold since 2016. Many damages were terrible in agriculture,
industry, health and especially environment. Pollution is such a serious problem
to Vietnam environment nowadays. While government and other adults trying to
make efforts to save the country, Vietnamese students are not concerned about
how much worse the matter becoming and how it destroys our country.
As a important workforce in the future, Vietnamese students in particular
university students are not attending protect environment which is playing a role
in developing nor taking care to reduce damage of climate change.

1.2 Rationale
Climate change has become one of the major global challenges of the 21st
century. It has been observed that the developing countries of the world will
suffer most from the impacts of climate change. The research want to raise
awareness, educate and inspire young people, particularly the students to do
something about climate change.

1.3 Purposes of the research

This study examines the level of awareness about climate changes becoming
serious and causing heavy damage to our environment among students of
Faculty of Foreign Languages and their action toward the problem.

1.4 Research scope

The space scope of the research is at National Economics University, 217 Giai
Phong Street, Hai Ba Trung District, in Hanoi. As well as being the central of
the capital, this area locates a large number of universities and hospitals.
Therefore, the population density is always exceeded, mainly there are resident
from the provinces coming to earn a living and especially students studying at
the universities. Such densely populated urban areas frequently rise complicated
environmental problems. It can be seen that this is the main cause of climate
change that people are suffering from.
The research is going to be conducted during this semester - from January to
May 2019. By carrying out a survey on the subject is college students especially
BE’s students.
Limitation only include the contents of causes, evolutions, manifestations, and
adaptations to modern climate change.
The research is implemented in the scope of research on students' perceptions
and attitudes about climate change is becoming more serious and harmful to the
environment today. Examining student attitudes is an important part of the
climate change prevention project. As a large young knowledge class and the
future owner of the nation, they need to have proper awareness of urgent
environmental issues today.

1.5 Research Methods

In order to gather sufficient information and have the most accurate view in the
process of assessing students' attitudes, The study was applied research methods
both from the literature, the previous studies and the actual survey on the
research subjects - namely BE students.
*Methods of synthesizing and analyzing documents
References to prior studies pave the way for future research, learn the right
views and arguments from previous successful researches. However, there are
studies with results that have not been finalized yet so it should be taken as a
lesson to learn to avoid mistakes and supplement the shortcomings. On the
other hand, after studying, it is possible to point out differences in attitudes of
students according to regions or their perception change over time. The goal will
be to familiarize yourself with the issues, and to gain a deeper understanding of
this topic.
* Survey method : questionnaires
This method will help researcher collect data objectively from BE’s students.
The formation of basic information will be contributed by the data has been
figured out. It is necessary for both researchers to build the project and the
reader to better understand the survey results. Go along with the data, statistics
with actual numbers also make research more theoretical and more valuable.
Cohen (1989) defines “A questionnaire as a self-report instrument used for
gathering information about variables of interest to an investigation. “.
The questionnaire contains two parts. The first part aims to illustrate the
awareness of students through education and mass medias; whether they have
been constantly updated on the climate change situation and the consequences
are becoming more and more serious. The second part is planned to gather
information about students' behaviors and attitudes related to environmental
issues. Situational questions are given to analyze the psychological attitude of
the study subjects.
