GLOBALIZATION AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ENVIRONMENT

It is essential to attend to the relationships that link these two complex realities, globalization and
the environment, in which we are submerged, regardless of the will or decision that we put on our
part. They are two types of realities that surpass us, envelop and condition us, which must be
attended to and which are inevitably imposed. Globalization, in generic terms, can be described as
a set of vast processes of change in which industrially advanced countries converge, in a relatively
limited period of time, giving rise to a new, highly complex social reality that goes beyond
economic structures, political and cultural of national states. This complex social reality, although
only recently established, unleashes a great variety of global processes of remarkable magnitude,
which are introduced everywhere, make their effects felt wherever they want, and nothing is left
out of their influences. Globalization is known as the phenomenon of opening economies and
borders as a result of increased trade, capital movements, the circulation of people and ideas, the
dissemination of information, knowledge and techniques and of a deregulation process. All this
has led to the fact that today the basic trend of the new economy, its effects being effectively felt
on other fields of human and social activity, is the movement towards globalization. In a very
general way, globalization can be defined as "the set of processes that lead to a single world."
Societies become interdependent in all aspects of their public life. Based on its terminological root,
globalization can be understood as the set of change processes, factors or causes, actors or agents
and phases or stages that take place.

The consideration of the environment is made in reference to the global human community, it will
be understood that it is the set of natural and social values of the human community in the
globalization society, which constitute the habitual support of the material and cultural life of
man. . In order to specify the environment, three levels can be established: the one offered by
nature or natural, the environment built by man and the resultant of the natural and social
environment modified by man, this is why it can be said that there are aspects of deterioration
with the environment in global society, the seriousness of the environmental problem is
manifested more clearly as soon as these issues are related to the progressive globalization, which
affects all areas of the life of citizens

The planet is going through a very critical situation that was never imagined by human beings and
where science has contributed to situations such as global warming, the destruction of the
ecosystem, species and contamination of the planet so as not to delve into deeper issues such as
wars for power. Previously, scientists with their work and their technologies have allowed the
planet to suffer wear and tear, an example of this are the products used such as pesticides, highly
polluting fossil energy sources, among many others. But the million dollar question is: What is the
cause of the human being causing these disastrous situations? What can we do to remedy the
damage caused to our environment?, among others. It is understood that caring for the
environment does not require great actions, but rather a true commitment that begins in our
personal and individual life, in addition to influencing our social or collective life with actions that
contribute to the preservation and protection of our seen as our house, because it provides us
with all the essential resources for the continuity of life
According to [CITATION Mar19 \l 2058 ]: The new human ecology has an important and necessary
cultural aspect, since the cultural heritage of humanity is also in danger. Globalization runs the risk
of erasing cultural differences and variability, establishing standardized lifestyles, linked to an
economic rationale that is reflected in regulations and technical solutions that do not take these
differences and cultural variability into account.

Raising awareness of the human being in general is the main objective about the importance of
protecting the environment, so that they understand that all their actions have a significant impact
on the planet. That this will help in the future to propose and carry out actions for the use and
conservation of resources from an ethical environmental position promoted by an ecological
conscience. In order to preserve and contribute to a world with a better quality of life. The
environmental problems caused by the current economic, political and social system have not
stopped increasing since the industrial revolution, although environmental deterioration has not
been the same in all parts of the planet, since the level of environmental aggression has evolved at
over time. It is true that various studies show how some of the different environmental problems,
such as the quality of drinking water, and certain pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, improve as the
economic level of a country increases. However, problems such as waste generation and carbon
dioxide (CO2) emissions, the main greenhouse gas, seem to increase considerably. The
consumption of natural resources also increases visibly with prosperity. It has been possible to
produce a substitution of resources throughout history, which has prevented the depletion of
several of them such as wood, when it was replaced in developed countries by coal, and this when
it was replaced by other fuels, such as the nuclear energy. It is clear that the resource base is
finite, and so is the ability to substitute some resources for others. The use of new resources has in
turn caused very serious environmental problems. Globalization based on capitalism generates a
large number of negative effects on the environment, due to different factors, among which is the
fact that international markets constantly generate a large-scale increase in energy resources, and
as a consequence the emission of polluting substances increases.

The relationship that exists between economic globalization and the environment is quite
complex, since it presents factors that are quite decisive, such as the fact that economic
globalization is expanding and accelerating the use of natural resources to unsustainable and
excessive levels that are increasingly worrying since marine, forest and freshwater ecosystems are
irreversibly affected, negatively affecting the global climate, due to current consumption and
production levels

In conclusion, we will say that globalization is a term that is widely used and that it refers
fundamentally to the internationalization of the economy that is changing society and cultures. It
is closely related to a free market, which mainly pursues economic benefit, and where
environmental standards for the protection and conservation of the environment lose importance
to the point of being ignored, putting exaggerated consumerism first, which leads us to the
overexploitation of natural resources. different natural resources.
