CSC397 Report Guideline for PC Maintenance and Networking

Networking and PC maintenance has the following sections;

a) Chapter One : Introduction

b) Chapter Two : Company Background

c) Chapter Three : Research on the Current System and Proposed System

- Current networking implementation and its problems

- Proposed networking implementation
o Benefits to the company, objectives and scope
o Proposed network map
o Proposed hardware & software components

d) Chapter Four : Network Design & Implementation

- Network Design
o Topology used
o Logical & physical design
- Implementation
o Installation process
o Configuration process (on PC, switch, router, access point etc)

e) Chapter Five : Network Testing and Maintenance

- Network Testing
o using network command (ping, telnet, ipconfig & ARP)
o Speed test
- Maintenance (include at least 5 computer maintenance activities)
o Preventive maintenance – Windows updates, malware scanning,
defragmenting, disk check-up etc
o Corrective maintenance – reformatting PC, system unit upgrades

f) Chapter Six : Conclusion and Recommendations
