The League of Corporate Foundations (LCF) is a network of more than 70 operating and

grant-making corporate foundations and corporations that aim to provide business solutions to
social problems in the Philippines through corporate social responsibility (CSR).
LCF represents decades of public-private partnerships and multi-sectorial approaches in
various development sectors which include arts and culture education, environment, health,
enterprise development, CSR research and training.
LCF has six committees—Arts and Culture, Education, Environment, Enterprise
Development, Health, and Communications. It is governed by a seven-person Board of Trustees
elected annually by the general membership. It is managed by the LCF Secretariat, headed by
the Executive Director and supported by six-full-time staff members.
Among the big member companies of the group are the San Miguel Corp., Sagittarius
Mines Inc., Toyota Motor Philippines Corp., Metrobank Group, Ayala Foundation, Lopez Group
Foundation, Aboitiz Foundation, Energy Development Corp., and PLDT-Smart Foundation.
LCF was initially organized in 1991 as a sub-sector of the Association of Foundations, a
nationwide network of non-government organizations (NGOs) and people’s organizations (POs)
in the Philippines, after realizing the unique needs and challenges of corporate foundations.
It was formally registered in 1996 as a non-profit association. Over the next decade, the
number of its members as well as the interest in corporate philanthropy and CSR increased
significantly.
In response to former President Joseph Estrada’s Presidential Proclamation 299 in 2001,
which declared the first week of July as National CSR week, LCF held its first annual CSR Expo
and Conference. The said event brought together the Philippine business community and
discussed the latest trends, models, and practices of CSR.
LCF amended its by-laws in 2003 to accept as member corporations those who were
interested in improving their CSR practice.
LCF established the Corporate Social Responsibility Institute (CSRI) in 2007 to serve as its
research and capacity-building arm. CSRI aims to professionalize the practice of CSR in the
country. It conducts research studies, publications, workshops, and forums.
