ORIX KK: Incentives in Japan

Introduction:

ORIX KK, a leading Japanese integrated financial services company. It offers leasing, lending, rentals,
life insurance, real estate financing and development, venture capital, investment and retail banking,
commodities funds and securities brokering. In addition to expanding its offerings, ORIX has also
expanded globally, offering financial services in North America, Asia, the Middle East and Northern
Africa.

History of ORIX KK:

ORIX began as orient leasing in 1964, a joint venture of three trading companies and five major
banks. When orient leasing started, leasing was such a new business practice in japan that none of
the employees has significant personal experience with it. Yoshihiko Miyauchi is Senior Chairman of
ORIX Corp and was a former CEO of ORIX Corp. when he retired in 2014, he was paid 4.4 billion yen
as retirement bonus. In the beginning the company’s focus was on small and medium sized
businesses, since Orient leasing is specialised in leasing office equipments, the company grew as long
as its clients were growing. The company started developing other financial products to sell, such as
real estate financing, auto leasing and consumer finance.
