Gas-Lift Valves

RF Series Production Pressure-Operated Valves

Weatherford’s McMurry-Macco® RF Series gas-lift valves are spring-

loaded, production pressure-operated (PPO) for installations using tubing
pressure to open and close the valve. A preset INCONEL® spring provides
the force necessary to maintain the valve in a normally closed position.
Since the force of the preset spring tension holds the valve stem on seat,
there is virtually no downhole temperature effect on the operation of the
valve. Weatherford’s unique patent-pending seat design for the RF-1
significantly reduces the effects of injection pressure buildup created as
the injection gas flows from the valve. This seat design more than triples
the effective crossover seat exhaust area, allowing the valve to maintain
its production pressure sensitivity. The valve will close at the preset tubing
pressure, even under high differential pressures.

Applications
• Continuous-flow gas lift
• Dual gas-lift systems and applications where injection pressure is
unstable

Features
• Port sizes from 1/8 to 3/16 in.
• Improved crossover seat design on RF-1 and RF-1BL valves
• Spring-loaded, non-temperature-sensitive valve
• Integral reverse-flow check valve with secondary metal-to-metal seal
• Three-ply MONEL® bellows
• Silver-brazed bellows connections
• Standard nitrile packing element system, with other packing material
available
• High-pressure spring available for high set pressures

Benefits
• Maximum travel stop increases cycle life of bellows
• Accepts all common top latches
• Guidance system designed to prevent corkscrew of the bellows

Options
• Optional Teflon® rings in bellows convolutions
• Optional tungsten carbide seat available
• Available in top and integral bottom latch models
