Improve Patient Care.” carefully. All the questions are primarily based on this
case.

6. In answering the questions, use the concept/terminologies/frameworks
discussed and explained during the class discussions.

Questions
1. Assume the role of a venture capitalist. PatientsLikeMe has approached you for additional
funding. To make the decision of whether to fund or not, you need to clearly understand
how the platform adds value to the different stakeholders in the Ecosystem. Based on the
information provided in the case, please outline the value provided by the platform to each
of the ecosystem constituents. Your answer should provide a narrative about the company’s
benefits to these stakeholders and conclude with a decision of whether to fund or not to
fund the company. The case facts that you provide in the answer should be connected with
your eventual decision of funding. [10 Marks]

2. Suppose you are hired by PatientsLikeMe as the General Manager (Ecosystem). You are
responsible for managing the existing ecosystem as well as for growing it. How would you
go about doing this? What recommendations will you make to the company for managing
as well as growing its ecosystem? [10 Marks]

3. During our class discussions we had discussed about the concept of disruptive innovation
in the cases like Radiohead and Telenor. Do you think PatientsLikeMe is such kind of
disruptive innovation? Please explain your answer. [10 Marks]
