Dear Sir/Madame, July 30, 2020

This is with reference to the requirement of the job of primary school Kindergarten Teacher in
your esteemed institution. My name is Shireen Sinclair and I moved to Germany from the USA
as a Bundesfreiwilligndienst in February 2020. I have parents in Germany and am looking to
settle here permanently. I currently work at the AWO in Heusweiler, Germany as a voluntary
worker and have significantly improved my German. I will be taking a B2 exam on September
16.

I do not have an early childhood education certificate, but a Bachelors in English, a diploma in
teaching voice from Trinity and a diploma in Journalism. Originally from India, living in
Rochester, New York since the past three years, I worked here as a copy-editor with a credit
card merchant, sang as a cantor in church and also conducted seasonal music and movement
classes at the library. I also conducted online english as a secondary language classes for a
company named VIPKID in China. The lesson plans were provided, and the teacher was free to
use any props to teach it to the child, in accordance to his/her age-group.

Prior to moving to the USA, I was in India and taught music to children at the pre- primary level
at an international school and conducted music and movement sessions for expats in India who
had an interest in teaching their children English as a second language. The programme was
one which incorporated music and movement with originally written stories fused to music and
sung as rhymes, thereby facilitating vocabulary learning through repetition for young learners.
The music and movement programme was conducted with parents for ages 6 months to 3
years, and without parents for ages 3 to 6. These programmes are very common in the USA
where I have had the opportunity to learn a lot as a participating parent as my children were
growing up in Texas and Indiana, USA.
In addition, I am a journalist and a copy-editor and continue to proofread and write articles in
English. As a freelance writer, I have contributed to magazines and blogs in Canada and the
USA and have developed online content for online clients all over the world. I am a trained
Opera singer and willingly sing in churches and do concerts when I get an opportunity. I sing in
English, German, French and Spanish, and accompany myself successfully on the guitar,
keyboard and Ukulele, when needed.
