Discussion Questions
Question 1:
Write a one-page paper that describes two companies (in addition to those mentioned in
this book) that have been using VR. What are two advantages and two disadvantages of
using VR? What is the main difference between a VR system and a human where they
are used for therapy? What are two examples of companies that are using AR? For
which purpose the AR systems are being used?
Answer:-
The world still perceives Virtual Reality as some Sci-Fi concept. However, it is
already present on the market and numerous businesses have been working in this
niche for years. There’s definitely no shortage to compile the list of top-rated virtual
reality companies, two of them are as follows

1. VironIT:-
VironIT is a software development company that uses a well-balanced set
of technology skills to build incredible Virtual Reality experiences. VironIT VR
development team focuses on custom solutions for a range of top Virtual Reality
headsets and platforms, including HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality, etc.
They also offer state-of-the-art game development, using specific gaming
engines like Unity and Unreal Engine. The company uses a wide experience to
ensure that clients have the best technical solutions to solve their business
challenges and deliver value for their organization

2. NEXT/NOW:-

animations for exhibitions, fairs, tradeshows, festivals, etc. This experimental
marketing agency, founded in 2011, is known for its high-quality work with touch
surfaces, gesture and motion, VR and AR, projection mapping, etc. Their average
charge per project is $25,000-$30,000.
Their client list is pretty impressive, with brands like NEC, Intel, LG,
American Girl, Audi, and even US Federal Reserve System (!). Next/Now team is

storytellers, motion graphic artists and managers (24 total). Since 2011 the

Advantages of Virtual Reality

These are two of the main advantages of Virtual Reality;
 Quality visualizations:-
There is no doubt about what VR can achieve when it comes to providing
an impressive visualization. A VR headset is what you need for improved levels
of experiences.
 A solution to language barrier:-
With the use of a suitable software, you can comfortably blend in a foreign
language domineered place or country and do just fine using a VR headset.

disadvantages of Virtual Reality

These are two of the main disadvantages of Virtual Reality;

 It can be addictive:-
who wouldn’t want the idea of having quality visualizations at every chance
they get? Well, it is not amusing but VR can do that to you. Being used in both
learning and playing games, VR has become addictive to some students and
gamers who cannot just let go and that makes them salves to the technology. This
is the most common reason why people want to sell their VR headsets.
 Provides no room for interaction:-
when used for learning in the classroom, VR does not provide any room for
interaction since you are not open to asking questions or even giving
suggestions. It is always a one man show when it comes to learning with using a
VR headset.

COMPANIES THAT USING AR

 Fashion and beauty: Try before you buy:-
Augmented reality is transforming the beauty industry by providing virtual
assistance to customers who don’t have to leave the comfort of their own homes to
try out the latest in fashion and cosmetics.
For example, department store chain Macy’s is helping simplify the cosmetics
selection process for customers who want to try out beauty products without waiting
in potentially long lines at the counter.Using AR technology, they created a mobile
app that allows users to choose from thousands of beauty products and shades for
customized makeovers. This way, shoppers can get an idea of what they want before
they even step foot in a store.

 Travel: Take 360-degree tours of vacation destinations right from a phone

From booking hotel rooms and transportation to planning events and
outings, augmented reality helps make traveling hassle-free and memorable.
The technology can give travelers access to information written in
pamphlets and other sources by converting it into useful, spoken conversation. It
can offer 360-degree tours of guest rooms, restaurants, meeting facilities, and
other venues. And it can empower travelers to plan and anticipate visits to nearby
events and places before they even leave the comfort of their rooms.

AR purpose:-

AR systems are being used as both collaborative tools for design and planning in
the built environment. For example, AR can be used to create augmented reality maps,
buildings and data feeds projected onto tabletops for collaborative viewing by built
environment professionals.
