Adverbs

WHAT ARE ADVERBS?

Concept:
Adverbs are words that are used to

change, modify, or add more information

about a verb in a sentence. An adverb

can also modify an adjective, or even

another adverb, in order to make the

meaning of the sentence more precise.

Types of
adverbs
Of place:
Adverbs of place frame the action

at a physical point.

Here – Aquí

There – Allí

Above – Encima

Of time:
Temporal adverbs tell us when the

events expressed by the verb occur.

Now – ahora

Tomorrow – mañana

Later – Más tarde

Of duration:
They help us to talk about how

long the action lasts.

For a while – durante un rato,

momento

All day long – durante todo el día

Of frequency:
Indicates how often something is

done.

Always – Siempre

Never – Nunca
Of order:
These words can be used to order

a speech, whether it is written or spoken.

Firstly – En primer lugar

Secondly – en segundo lugar

Finally – finalmente

But we will

Adverbs of manner:
They are those in which they describe

how or in what way the action of a verb,

the attribute of an adjective or the

modification of another adverb develops.

They are those adverbs that answer the

question: How or in what manner?

Regular:

Lucky: luckily

Incredible: incredibly

Basic: basically

Irregular:

Fast

Well

Hard

Examples:
Regular:

He was  seriously  injured in the

accident  -  Él fue gravemente herido

en el accidente.

My mom  always speak very loud - Mi


madre siempre habla alto.

Irregular:

She did the oral exposition

very  well  -  Ella hizo muy bien la

exposición oral .

Her oral exposition was

very  good  -  Su exposición oral

estaba muy bien
