MD's MESSAGE
Dear Go-Getter,
Welcome aboard Asia’s Most Trusted airline!

C
irium, the world’s leading authority on airline on-time performance,
aviation and travel data analytics has featured GoAir in the top 10 list.
The UK-based company has over a decade of experience reporting on
the punctuality of airlines and airports and each year it releases the annual
report, ‘On-Time Performance Review’. In its 2019 report, GoAir ranks 10th in
the most on-time mainline airline list in the Asia Pacific region.

Cirium tracks over a staggering 1,00,000 flights a day, including almost

every airline around the world, and bases its analysis on an 80 percent coverage
requirement for each category. The company utilises 600 unrivalled data
sources and processes 15 million updates a day to ensure the most accurate
results with multi-source verification. For ‘On-time Performance Review 2019’
(Jan-Dec), Cirium analysed a mind-boggling 35 million flights and then arrived
at the ranking.

As we grow further, we are pleased to announce the daily non-stop

flights (except Saturdays) to Pune from Hyderabad. The flights on the Pune -
Hyderabad route will start from 5th February 2020 to enhance the connectivity
between these two fastest growing business centres and IT hubs.

By the time this message reaches you, Honourable Finance Minister

Nirmala Sitharaman would have presented the Economic Survey and the
Finance Budget in the Parliament. Irrespective of the provisions in this Budget,
the aviation industry is poised to grow exponentially in the coming years. If
India has to become a $5 trillion economy by 2025, then the aviation sector
has to play a pivotal role. GoAir saw these trappings long ago — 2016 to be
precise — when we doubled our order of Airbus A320neo aircraft to 144.

ne of the most celebrated festivals of
India, literally translating to “the great
night of Shiva”, Mahashivratri honours the
grace and benevolence of Lord Shiva.
Falling on 21st February this year, there are
several legends associated with this auspicious
day. One such tale is that on this day Lord

Shiva performs the heavenly dance of creation,
preservation and destruction. Another being that
this is the night when Lord Shiva and Goddess
Parvati got married. There is even a temple in
Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand, known as
TriyugiNarayan Temple, credited to being the
sacred place where Lord Shiva got married to
Goddess Parvati, witnessed by Lord Vishnu.
Locals believe that the “Homa-Kund Agni” in this
temple is burning from three yugas, thus giving
the temple its name - Tri (three) Yugi (yugas)
Narayan (witnessed the wedding).
Another legend associated with the
celebrations of Mahashivratri is that on this day
Lord Shiva gulped the poison produced during
“Samudra Manthan” and held it in his neck,
which turned blue. It was this incident that
made Him lovingly also known as “NeelKanth”.
Scriptures have it that it was NeelKanth Temple

VADA PAV
Legend has it, in 1971 Ashok Vaidya
reportedly came up with the idea.
He placed a hot vada inside a pav
smothered with a fiery red chutney.
His experimentation worked and soon it
was synonymous with Mumbai. Today,
its reach is not just national but global,
with a vada pav stall set up at the base
of Mount Titlis, Switzerland!

CHICKEN MANCHURIAN
Famous restaurateur Nelson Wang, in his
early days as a chef at the Cricket Club
of India (Mumbai), invented this dish.
Wang arrived in the city in the early 1970s
and found work as a cook. Catering to
a customer’s request for a new dish, he
came up with his own improvisations
leading to what is now well-known as
Chicken Manchurian. Later, the chef opened
restaurants in India but he is still fondly
remembered for his culinary invention.

EGGS KEJRIWAL
No, this dish has nothing to do with Indian
politician Arvind Kejriwal. The story goes that
in the 1960s, a Marwari businessman named
Devi Prasad Kejriwal got the chefs at Willingdon
Sports Club to whip up eggs his way — eggs
on toast with a bit of cheese and a garnish of
chopped green chillies. Soon enough, the dish was
talked about, and savoured among his friends and
members of the Club. Naturally, the dish went on
to become a part of the Club’s menu. While you NDED

Made famous by Joshi Buddhakaka Mahim
Halwawala, this sweet has a legacy of over
225 years. The owner, Giridhar Mavji, along

the menu. Although it is now served across

CHINESE BHEL
Created in Mumbai, Chinese Bhel is

evening snack, it is said that street
hawkers concocted this dish by throwing
in ingredients such as fried noodles,
shredded cabbage, tomatoes, onions and
a generous dollop (or two) of Schezwan

CHICKEN BHUJING
Agashi Bhujing Centre in Virar is where it all started. Chicken
Bhujing was invented in 1940 when Babu Hari decided to make
an appetiser for his friends. When the roasted mutton he cooked
turned out to be greasy, he decided to add poha (flattened rice)
to soak the oil. Today, the recipe is slightly tweaked. Chicken and
potatoes are skewered and cooked over charcoal. It is then mixed
with masala and nylon poha.

Phuket
F or couples travelling to Phuket, there can never
be a dull moment as there is something to do
for everyone. One of the popular beach destinations
in Asia, the island has many adventure options, so
make a list of what you want to experience.
You and your significant other could go island-
hopping together to Koh Phi Phi and James Bond
Island, or could spend your day in the water
marvelling at the aquatic life at Koh Lanta. If you
are on a short trip, visit the Koh Hey island for
swimming, parasailing, kayaking, snorkelling or
simply spend your time at the beach.
If nightlife is what you prefer, reserve your
evenings and nights for Patong. You and your
partner can bar-hop your way through several
themes of watering-holes, while enjoying the
festivities in the streets. Pro tip: There is more to
Thai food than just sticky rice and Pad Thai. Phuket
is known for its street
food as well as fine-
dining options, so
plan well and explore
both. Street food is a
way of life here. Be
sure to sample curries,
noodles, salads, soups,
dumplings and spring
rolls. One Chun in

volunteered and, to this day, he
