Guidelines and Requirements to Submit Geology Practical 2 (48330)

1- Your Own Drawing/Illustration: For Questions 1, 2 and 3 very clear drawings should be
plotted. For question 2, both 3D and 2D drawings would be required. Correct colour coding
and reasonable presentation of angles would be expected. Students must draw their own
illustration (clear hand drawing or your drawing in computer) based on the given
information in the questions.

2- Your Own Solution and Explanation: Written explanation and steps by step solution for
Questions 1 and 2 should be provided in your own words; mathematical formulations and
any trigonometry shapes used must be explained. For Question 4 in particular, it is required
that students mention how they obtained the required numbers from the map in their own
writing, and only reporting the numbers would not be acceptable (brief written text would
be required about the steps taken to obtain the values from the map). If any value or
formula is taken from any textbook, note or reference, correct citation should be provided
with the standard referencing, while table or figure numbers should be also mentioned.
Harvard UTS Referencing Guide should be used to prepare the list of adopted references
consistently.

It is emphasised that these are individually submitted assignments and group submission are not
accepted. Although brainstorming and learning from other students are encouraged, each student
should write the solution in his/her own way with proper referencing and explanation. Plagiarism is
very serious academic misconduct and will be penalised accordingly.
