COGNITIVE AND METACOGNITIVE FACTORS

1. How the students learn the subject matter? Is the subject matter complex and
challenging? Do you found it effective?
Miss. Mary Joy made the students to speak in front of the class. She asked them to
prepare a report. The students were divided into three groups. Their topic was all about
chemistry. The interleaving structures and components of disaccharides and
carbohydrates. The discussion was done by the students. They used a manila paper to
demonstrate the information in the class. They made a well-made report of the topic by
providing a detailed information about disaccharides structures, functions, and
backgrounds.
Yes of course, chemistry subject is a very complex subject and it’s a very
challenging one. But I see that ABM students didn’t find it that way. They were active
and attentive. I can sense that even though chemistry is a broad subject they were
enjoying it. They asked Miss Mary Joy when they didn’t understand the word or they
were curious at something that is related on the lesson.
I find it effective and efficient. Since Miss Mary Joy made the students really
engage on her lesson. It efface a good result. The students really learn well. She
contributed a good learning outcomes.
2. Are the goals of the learning process create meaningful, coherent representation of
knowledge? Is it goal directed?
Yes, because the students learn rigorously. Through a report discussion
manifesting by the students in the class, I can say that Miss Mary Joy learning goals
contribute and efface a good impact on her students since they learn independently but in
proficient way.
It is goal directed since I guess it is interrelated on her learning objectives. Where
students needs to identify and illustrate the information.
3. How the students link new information with knowledge in meaningful ways?
They provided a background and would relate the topic in real life situations. For
example, I remember Miss Mary Joy mentioned about foods that are reach in
carbohydrates because she needed to summarize the topic after the students’ discussion.
One students there answered that because he keeps eating large serving of rice it results
him in being a fat. And then he explained rice is full of carbohydrates and it is only
composed of two monosaccharide and our enzymes would break it fast unlike to a
polysaccharide. By this, students learn critically and in creative way.
4. Did you observe higher order thinking skills among students? Present evidences
Yes, one students kept asking questions. After Miss Mary Joy explained and gave
examples. He would asked again about it he then relate it on some articles he had seen. I
think this is an example of high order thinking skills since he is very and engage on the
lesson.
5. How did the motivation influenced learning?
It affects student behavior in the class. If not with motivation they wouldn’t be
attentive and active. They will get bored and would lost an interest in the lesson.
Motivation directed the learning. It also increased the students energy level in the class.
Miss Mary Joy has successfully motivated her class by saying jokes.
6. How do social influences reinforce learning?
It could be perceived that social status can be correlated with better life chances
and educational achievements for children. Significantly, analysis of each child's social
background showed all factors to have an independent influence on educational outcome.
Parental education and class were shown to have the strongest correlations to good
educational outcomes, while parental earnings had the weakest. More highly educated
parents, it seems, influence their children's educational aspirations, and are more able to
support their studies and navigate their child through the education system. A
professional parent may consider higher education a necessity, and may be more likely to
have the means to cover educational costs and choose better schools.

SUMARRY/INSIGHTS

I think Miss Mary Joy Cabatlao would able to teach more proficiently than Miss Liezel
Dangeroes. She is able to motivate her class skillfully. She doesn’t had dull moments with her
students because they very active and attentive. Other than, she also able to teach efficiently and
effectively. I didn’t say Miss Liezel Dangeroes cannot do that. Maybe there are just some factors
to consider to efface an inevitable impact on her students. I would say she must not be too stiff
and just relax a bit like try to be fun every moment she sees her students getting bored on her
lesson. She is so serious which affects her students mood and behavior. Otherwise, they would
really engage on her lesson if she can be ironic sometime.
