What do you think the reasons why the government constitutionalized the study of Rizal
Course over other national heroes? Give at least 10 Reasons.
1) To rededicate the lives of youth to the ideals of freedom and nationalism, for which
our heroes lived and died
2) To pay tribute to our national hero for devoting his life and works in shaping the
Filipino character
3) To gain an inspiring source of patriotism through the study of Rizal’s life, works, and
writings.
4) Mandating educational institutions in the country to offer a course on the hero’s life,
works, and writings, especially the ‘Noli Me Tangere’ and ‘El Filibusterismo’.
5) To recognize the importance of Rizal’s ideals and teachings in relation to present
conditions and situations in the society.
6) To encourage the application such ideals in current social and personal problems and
issues.
7) To develop appreciation and deeper understanding of all that Rizal fought and died
for.
8) To foster the development of the Filipino youth in all aspects of citizenship.
9) It helps in developing logical and critical thinking.
10) Rizal can serve as a worthwhile model and inspiration to every Filipino.

2. Kindly highlight and expound the words or statements in the constitutional and legal basis of
the study Rizal’s works and life. Cite at least 5 items.
1) Republic Act No. 1425, known as the Rizal Law, mandates all educational institutions
in the Philippines to offer courses about José Rizal.
2) An act to include in the curricula of all public and private school, colleges and
universities courses on The Life, Works and Writings of Jose Rizal, particularly his
novels, Noli Me Tangere, and El Filibusterismo, authorizing the printing and distribution
thereof, and for other purposes.
3) The Rizal law has come a long way. After Republic Act No. 1425 aimed at including a
study of the life and works of Jose Rizal in the curricula of public and private schools
was approved by President Ramon Magsaysay on June 12, 1956, teaching Rizal has
been mandatory in our school system.
4) Normally, before the bill was approved and implemented in all schools and was
signed into a law known as Republic Act 1425, it had been brought to the Upper and
Lower House of the Congress for deliberations.
5) According to the Official Gazette, the law was made effective thirty days after its
implementation.
