SCOPE

Our movie recommendation system VARAS not only has scope in entertainment but also in
sharing of information. VARAS recommends users on the basis of users’ rating; but there are
movies which are worth watching and that a user is unaware of. These movies are also
recommended to the users by our system.
In addition, VARAS has future scope of adding features like suggesting movies with
common actors, directors and writers. With time, VARAS would also be competent enough to
recommend movies which are released at the same time period. Similarly VARAS would also
recommend movies on the basis of gross collection. The total gross collection of a movie helps
to find the taste of users in terms of that whether he/she likes large blockbuster films or smaller
indie films.

IDENTIFICATION OF NEED
The advent of film streaming services created out there thousands of flicks with a click of a
button. We tend to currently have movies not solely from Hollywood, but also from international
cinema, documentaries, indie movies, etc. With numerous movies at hand, the patron faces the
perplexity of what to look at. We developed VARAS to help users find and select movies from the
large number of movies available on the web or in other electronic information sources.
Given a huge set of movies and a description of the needs of the user, it presents to the
user a small set of the movies that are well suited to the description. Our movie recommendation system
VARAS provides great comfort and personalization so as to help the user interact better with the system
and watch movies that cater to his needs. Providing this level of comfort to the user is the primary need
and motivation in choosing movie recommendation system as our Project. The main purpose of VARAS
is to recommend movies to its users based on their viewing history and ratings that they provide.
VARAS can facilitate, suggesting movies that match user style and viewing habits.

INTENDED USERS
Intended audience are the end users who watch the movies will use our system VARAS. Our
Recommendation system discovers patterns in the data set by learning and analyzing userchoices and
behavior and produces the outcomes that best relates to the interests of user. The users will get a
recommendation of which movie to watch and further on the basis of their viewing history, the
other users will be recommended. The user for example wants to watch comedy movies so
according to our recommendation system he will be directed to the selected type of movies.
Upon completion he might be even recommended some movies related to comedy and another
genre as a mix. Thus, VARAS helps the user in providing enhanced entertainment. Our system will
help them in getting suggestions in future based on their preferences.
