FLY ASH FOR EMBANKMENT

Fly ash is causing environmental pollution and requires large area of precious land for disposal. Due
to increasing awareness of the ill effects of the pollution, utilization and safe disposal of ash
generated at thermal power plants has become an urgent and challenging task. Fly ash can be
utilized in many ways but bulk utilization can be done mainly in the field of civil engineering
applications, especially construction of roads and embankments. In developed urban areas natural
borrow sources for soil or earth is scare and expansive. The environmental degradation caused due
to using topsoil for construction of embankment is also very high.
