Research and Practice on Chapter-1

The interconnection between
Chinese Geographical environment and Culture

China is one of the largest countries in the world and the largest
country entirely in Asia, bordering with 14 different countries. It was
even larger than what it is currently now during the ancient times.
China’s terrain pass from the high altitudes in the west to the sea level
flat land in the east. The western part experiences extreme weather and
not ideal for agriculture. Hence the Easter and Central regions of China
are where Agriculture first developed.

Chinese civilization is built on Agriculture during the past times. The

Yellow River (Mother River) is where the first Chinese agricultural
civilization began.Due to the large numbers of Chinese settlements ,it is
also the beginning of Chinese Culture. Chinese culture is represented by
Confucianism. Which is originated from rules to regulate the house hold
and extended to the level of society and the nation.
People start to migrate due to the development of cultivated land
,moving from the Yellow river in the north to Yangtze in south .During
this period of migration the dialect of the north was dominant over the
south.

As I mentioned earlier ,Farming began in the Yellow river and the area
of cultivation spread out in all four directions, especially in the South
along the Yangtze River. The favorable conditions to harvest and cultivate
in the eastern and central China because of the geographical positioning
led people’s migration,as a result the Chinese culture also shared and
related between themselves. Thus the Geographical environment of
China is closely interrelated to Chinese culture.
