A. What are the three significant things that strikes me the most in virtual discussion?
Through the virtual discussion, I was able to acquire a deeper understanding
regarding God’s humanity and divinity. The ideas that struck me the most in the
discussion are the following:
1. Humanity.
The act of Jesus becoming man is something really significant in understanding
him. He was truly human like any other. He felt anger, sorrow, and hunger. He loved,
wept, and died. Jesus had a fully human experience. He lived just as we lived, and we
should strive to live as Jesus lived.
2. Freewill
God gave us with reason and freewill and that freedom necessitates the freedom
to choose either good or evil. It is as if God wants us to be completely free so that we
would have the ability to make decisions that truly impact our lives, but that has to
mean that we could negatively impact it as well. As God, as powerful as He is,
endowed us with our own freewill, he became powerless in our decision to choose
either good or evil.
3. Sacrifices.
The notion of Jesus as our true salvation also piqued my mind during the
discussion. Christ carried the guilt and suffered the pain of the world. He died for our
sins and restored our relationship with God. He did all of that for us, and we did
nothing to deserve it. We did nothing to earn our salvation we can do nothing to lose
it.
B. One thing that I would like to clarify.
The topic that I would like to have a more in-depth explanation is the relationship
between the divine law and human law. It is clear that human law is the result of the
agreement to follow certain rules so that humans can live together with as little conflict as
possible. Divine law, on the other hand, is found in the scriptures, and receives its
authority directly from God. With that being said, what are the differences and
similarities between them? Are there any human laws that arose from the divine law?
Why is there a need to follow human laws if divine laws already exist? If the Bible is the
absolute source of morality, why can’t we reconcile the human law and the divine law?
