Established laptop market has a various brand like Lenovo, Dell and HP. Due to
sudden spike in the market because of the Work from home and online learning
it resulted demands of the laptop range between RS 32,000 to RS 52,000 in
India. The established brand are the market leader and the price of their basic
model falls between 25,000 to 60,000, which help them to full the current
market demand and it resulted in the positive manner to all the established
companies in India.
LENOVO MARKET
Covid-19 has impacted in good term for the Lenovo as the demand for the
laptop has increased which help the Lenovo to retain its market share. In order
to meet the new demand of the market Lenovo introduce the Idea Pad Slim 3 in
the market. The price of notebook falls between 26,990 to 40.990 depending on
the model. With this launch Lenovo set to retain first position in Indian PC
market with 50% share.
DELL
Dell seen sudden increased in the demand for its both type of product : new
Laptops as well as it’s refurbished laptop by the 30-40%. Huge demand of the
laptops resulted in the price hike by the RS 5000 to 8000, depending upon the
different features. Due to change in consumers’ preferences from desktop to the
laptop because of mobility and connectivity issue , led to unprecedented
demand for refurbished laptops.
Indian Laptop market and Established players
The sudden surge in demand for laptops triggered by work from home (WFH)
culture and online learning, has pushed up prices of new and refurbished laptops
by 30-40%. In the last three months, prices of refurbished laptops have gone up
by Rs 5,000 to to 8,000, depending on the configuration. New laptops powered
by Intel processors have seen an average price rise of Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000,
according to retailers. The cost of a 4-year old refurbished Dell Latitude laptop
with i5 processor which was Rs 16,000 three months ago, is now 25,000. A
Lenovo T450 business laptop is now sold at Rs 24,000 from Rs 16,000 to Rs
18,000 before the lockdown, according to refurbished laptop sellers. Laptops
are being preferred over desktops due to mobility and connectivity. This has led
to shortage in laptops and unprecedented demand for refurbished laptops.
Lenovo set to retain pole position in India PC market with a 50% share
The company leads the domestic tablets market with a whopping 48 percent, in
PCs 28.8 percent in Q1, he said, adding the Tamil Nadu deal has increased it

Having made a solid start by cornering half of the market pie in the second
quarter of 2019 and pushing the incumbent HP to the second slot, computing
devices major Lenovo India has set its eyes firm on maintaining the lead for the
full year and the next, eying more than 30 percent of the market.
According to IDC data, Lenovo led the domestic PC market, which includes
desktops, notebooks and workstations, in the second quarter of 2019, cornering
49.2 per cent of the 3.4 million units’ market, pushing HP to the second spot
and Dell to the third. This has helped the Chinese company take a huge lead
over HP, the market leader for long, with 37.2 percent of the total market.

According to the latest survey, Lenovo accounted for 25% of the market, while
HP’s market share was 24.8%. Brands such as Dell, Apple and Acer followed,
ranking third, fourth and fifth in terms of global notebook shipments. Their
market shares are 15.6%, 8.5% and 6.7% respectively.
The publishers of the study report that today laptops are purchased for work,
study and play. Separately, there is a great demand for Chromebooks.

HP India sees big promise in premium laptops
IDC: HP, Dell and Lenovo performance in India PC market
The Indian PC market remained weak outside big commercial deals due to weak
consumer demand, high inventory from previous quarters, and supply issues for
Intel chips. The consumer PC market dropped 26.5 percent mainly because of
low discretionary spending and seasonality. The low spending was partially
because of macroeconomic factors such as shrinking industrial output and
slowdown in consumer spending.
Gaming PC segment saw good traction through both online and retail as
vendors decreased GPU prices.
Lenovo retained its leadership position with a 28.5% market share in 3Q19. Its
shipments grew 55.4% YoY on the back of the ELCOT deal. Outside the
ELCOT, Lenovo was able to win a few large BFSI deals, which helped the
brand to maintain triple-digit growth in the overall commercial segment for the
second quarter in a row.
HP Inc. maintained its second position with a 26.4% market share, as its
shipments grew 9.9% from the previous quarter. One large education deal
where HP was the main supplier was postponed to the following quarter, which
led to a slight 0.6% decline in its shipments when compared to the same time a
year ago.
Dell Technologies ranked third with a 19.7% market share in 3Q19, as its
commercial shipments grew 24.1% annually. However, its consumer shipments
fell 27.3%, resulting in a 0.6% decline in its overall shipments compared to the
same period last year.
