Pizza Oven
Introduction.
You and a friend want to make a
s'more. You have recently learnt that
the sun can be used as a source of
power, You have also spent time
learning about sustainability goal 7
focusing on clean energy.
Brief.
Your job is to design a
solar powered pizza
oven which can cook a
s'more.
Generating designs.
Your task is to design three different
styles of pizza ovens. Choose one
design to create which you will use to
cook your s'more.
Project Specifications.
You must create a pizza oven
that can cook a s'more and the
materials must not cost more
than $5. You must use a pizza
box in your design. In the
classroom you will have access
to scissors, glue, tape and any
other classroom stationary you
may need.
Project Management.
First you will need to research what is solar
power and how it can be used for cooking.
From your three designs you will create one
oven using the best elements from your
designs. You will have one lesson to research,
one lesson to plan your pizza oven, then you
will have two lessons to create your pizza
oven. Then you will have one day to cook
your s'more. After cooking you will have one
lesson to prepare and evaluate your
presentation. The final lesson you will
present your oven to the class.
Evaluation.
You will have a self-evaluation to
compare your oven to peers to
determine which oven is more
sustainable and effective for cooking.
When you are reflecting on your
creation and peers' you will use your
own criteria for success.
Presentation.
You will be doing an oral
presentation to present
your designs and creation.
You are welcome to include
a poster to display your
designs, creation and s'more
cooked. You will need to
explain your designs, reason
for chosen design and how
effective your oven was.

Lesson 7.
In this lesson you will be preparing your
presentation and evaluating your pizza oven. In
your presentation you will need to discuss the
elements in your design, was your oven
effective in cooking s'mores and how did the
sun act as a source of energy.

Lesson 8.
This will be your last lesson where each pair will
present their oven to the class.
