Malaise – A general feeling of discomfort, illness, or fatigue

Abdominal Fullness – Bloating which occurs when excess gas builds up in the digestive tract

Adrenal Mass – an abnormal growth that develops in the adrenal glands

Mass – A lump in the body that can be caused by the abnormal growth of cells

Lymphadenopathy – Enlargement of lymph nodes, typically greater than 1.5 cm as a result of


activation and proliferation of lymphocytes and phagocytic white blood cells within the node or by
invasion of the node by tumor.

Biopsy – Removal of tissue from any part of the body to examine it for disease.

Immunolabeling – A biochemical process that enables the detection and localization of an antigen to
a particular site within a cell, tissue or organ. (Antigens are organic molecules, usually proteins,
capable of binding to an antibody)

Crinophagy – A process where excess secretory granules fuse directly with lysosomes instead of
being delivered to the plasma membrane for exocytosis

Neuroblastoma – cancers that start in early nerve cells (called neuroblasts) of the sympathetic
nervous system. Most neuroblastomas begin in sympathetic nerve ganglia in the abdomen, about
half of these start in the adrenal gland.

Chemotherapy - drug treatment that uses powerful chemicals to kill fast-growing cells in your
body. Chemotherapy is most often used to treat diseases and cancer, since cancer cells grow and
multiply much more quickly than most cells in the body.

Radiotherapy - cancer treatment that uses high doses of radiation to kill cancer cells and shrink
tumors. 

Resection – surgically removing part or all of a tissue, structure or organ.
