Philosophy of Teaching Statement

Technology has come a long way over the years. From chalkboards to projectors to smart

boards, technology is continuously changing and so are teaching strategies. Technology has

changed the way teachers teach and students learn. I find it very valuable to integrate technology

into my everyday teaching practices. Being that I was chosen as the fourth grade virtual teacher

for the whole district, I am completely immersed in this thought of how important it is to connect

technology to teaching practices.

Differentiated instruction proves valuable to a student’s education. Technology has

provided many new and unique ways to differentiate instruction for all types of learners. Every

child deserves a right to a meaningful education and with the rapidly growing advances in

technology, students have more opportunities to explore in their learning than ever before.

Technology works for all learners. Students can be audio, visual, and/or kinesthetic

learners. Students who have access to technology in their classrooms have a better chance to

explore different strategies that will support them in their specific learning styles. The rapid

growth of technology and its continuous change provides something new for each learner.

Students will not have the “I’m bored” feeling because there will always be something new for

them to explore.

Smart boards, chromebooks, online games, virtual tours, and ebooks are some examples

of technology that I use in my classroom. In my new virtual world that tool list is ever growing

as well. My students are given opportunities to interact and access these technologies throughout

the school year. Online assessments record a student’s growth and needs, and provide me with

an easier way to form different instructional groups. Technology has made learning “fun” for my

students and significantly supported me with assessments, data, and individual profiling.
Technology has opened up many doors for me as an educator and as a lifelong learner. I

will continue to learn and practice new means of technology to provide the best education

possible for my students. Without technology, I do not think I would have so many different

styles to teach my students. I am grateful for the ever-evolving technologies that are available to

students and teachers.
