Experiment 2

1. What are the properties of the soil affects by the amount of organic
matters? (CO2)

Soil can be changed or altered depending on the amount of organic matter

that is being determined. Properties like the density and the mass of the
sample soil may differ from the one with organic matters and without
organic matters. At times, when a sample soil is used for experimental
purposes and about to determine the mass, the tendency is to gain a
higher weight than the soil that is about to be removed of organic matters.

2. Define the relationship of the amount of the organic matters present on the
soil to its properties. For example, what will be the amount of moisture
content if there are greater amount of organic matters. (CO2)

As concluded on the experiment, the amount of organic matters deals a

huge margin to the mass of the sample soil. When the sample soil was
taken inside the furnace, the organic samples starts to burn and get
disintegrated.

Experiment 4

1. What is the relationship of the specific gravity of soil to its components: soil
solids, water and air? (CO2)

The relationship between the specific gravity and the components of the
soil are determined from soil solids, water and air. During the experiment, it
can be visualized that whether you replace it or add it with certain element,
it will definitely change the properties of the sample.

2. What is/are the advantage/s of using pycnometer on determination of

specific gravity of soil? (CO2)
As per experiment, the advantage of using the pycnometer is the accuracy
of the results. Although after a while, there are some realizations that
produce disadvantages on the use of the equipment. These disadvantages
are the invaluable use of the equipment and the time consuming use of the
equipment. The whole experiment gave a lot of time from trying the
equipment itself to the acquiring the data.
