When it comes to teaching, everyone has their own unique way of executing it.

My main

priority would be to make sure that ALL of my students feel safe in the environment that we

share, so that they can be able to grow and use the things that I am able to teach them in the

future. I remember back when I was in public school, there were always specific teachers who

looked out for you, while also making sure you were safe and having fun. I want to make sure

that I can provide that assure for my future students.

Being able to listen and communicate effectively with your students, I feel should be

THE focus when teaching. This is because students not only want to be seen and heard, but also

want to know what can better help them. Students, especially at the middle and high school

stage, are trying to find themselves, and most of the time look to the adults at school for advice.

Most times, at home they feel as if their parents won’t listen but judge them instead. Students

want to have clarity that when they come to you, that you are listening and being there for them,

and in some cases, give them advice. This builds trust and respect and will carry into the

classroom setting when teaching a new topic/activity.

Respect and responsibility go hand in hand because respect has to be earned by taking

responsibility. In order to earn respect, you have to give respect and that is something I want my

students to know. Respect is shown through action and I plan on showing my students what is

respect and how it can be earned. This can be learned through actions with other students and

teachers and possibly used in the future. Learning and mastering this trait can help achieve

greater skill down the road. Responsibility then comes into play because then students will need

to know how to reach different levels of respect. Also, being responsible for one’s actions will be

learned during class, so that we all can be better individuals and implement them into our daily

life.
Honesty is pretty important because it is a trait that carries onto the real world. Being

honest avoids a lot of problems and keeps you sane. It also lets us teachers know where a student

is particularly in each subject, and just throughout the school day. This is something that I would

like my students to pick up on and use in the classroom because it can help not only yourself, but

the next student or myself included. A sense of hope is needed when teaching students. This is

because students get discouraged at times and they need someone to set them back on that path

and let them now that can be better once certain things are arranged. Students tend to give up

once things get hard, they simply just need that push to make them work harder. Just giving

students that extra hope that they can do better and turn things around can be effective because

once in a while everyone needs a little pick me up.
