For me, avoiding the minimum requirements stated in the National Building Code will make
the user’s health and safety suffer. To the owner, I will first highlight the importance of
complying to NBC when it comes in building a house. She/he need to know that apart from the
whole aesthetic design of the house, it is more important to focus on its functionality and
sustainability. It must be “form follows function”. I would suggest to get an architect for
him/her to be assured in terms of designing her/his house. The violation that the builder
committed is that he does not comply to the minimum standards and requirements in
accordance with the NBC. It is also ergonomically incorrect which will make the users suffer.
