Course Description
Short Description:
Overview on Aircraft Development and Aircraft Requirements,
Environmental Control Systems, Ice Protection, Bleed Air, Fuel Systems,
Power Plant, Flight Control, Hydraulics, Landing Gear, Electrical Power
incl. Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS), Alerting Systems,
Instruments.

General Course Objectives:

The course aims to provide the basic understanding of aircraft
development process and the requirements of aircraft systems. For
each aircraft system, it discusses the functional requirements
including the operating environment, airworthiness requirements,
the working process of systems and components and the required
energy. Variations of the design and the technology being used will
be discussed as well.

Examples of Test Problems
1. Explain what Anti-Icing and De-Icing systems are. Mention
three methods commonly used for De-Icing system and
explain the working process of those systems.

2. An aircraft flies through a Stratus cloud with the Liquid Water

Content (LWC) of 0.20 g/m3 for 12 minutes. Determine the
“water thickness” if the aircraft speed is 800 km/hour.

3. Make a chart showing the effect of fuel asymmetry on rolling

moment as a function of the total fuel weight, for aircraft with
swept back and dihedral wing, and the fuel is stored in the
wing. Explain the chart. Mention the methods to reduce the fuel
asymmetry.
Explain the working process of the Brushless Alternator
below. What is the function of GCU for this component?
